Can part of our GroupSite be used as a public access website and part be members only? Can event payment options like PayPal be embedded on a GroupSite?

Hudson,

This information has been sent from support, and we've added it here in case anyone searches for it.

1. Yes, a Groupsite can be set to have a Home page accessible to the public. We call this a "Limited" visibility Groupsite. You can choose this visibility setting from the MANAGER > Group Settings > General Settings area of a Groupsite.

For more info and help, here's a link to a related FAQ:

2. Yes, you can add PayPal to your Groupsite.

You can add Paypal, Google Checkout or other 3rd-party eCommerce functionality to your Groupsite by inserting an appropriate widget into our all-purpose Freeform Text module, or through the Embed Video/Widge module.

You can learn more about content modules here:

And, about embedding widgets here:

Because PayPal code has script in it, you will need to size your module when you add the code. The link I provided above, regarding embedding widgets, describes how to do this.

Also, seeing a few examples might help:

* Here's a screen shot from my demo Groupsite where I've inserted a PayPal widget into the Welcome area of my home page. (The Welcome area is a "Freeform Text" type of module.)

Attachment.

*Here's an examples of a public Groupsites using third-party payment services for paid membership levels:
http://motorcityconnect.groupsite.com/page/mcc-membership-levels

In the last example, the manager uses an "Add More" page (our Premium Content Customization feature) in his Groupsite, and added his payment widgets into modules on that customized "Add More" page.

I hope this helps and have fun with your Groupsite!

Diana
