    We're happy to announce the upcoming launch of Groupsite Chat, a new instant messaging feature, to our platform. Chat allows real-time communication in Chat rooms right inside your Groupsite.  Within the next few weeks, Groupsite Chat will be a standard feature in our Large Team, Collaboration Community, and Enterprise plans. This means that when a Groupsite subscribes to one of these plans in the future, the site will automatically include Chat capability.

    What is Groupsite Chat? 

    Groupsite Chat is a new application in select Groupsite plans. This is new functionality that enables real-time communication and sharing through integrated chat rooms. Members can log-in to a Groupsite to discuss different topics using instant messaging (also known as "Chat"). Each room is its own separate communication channel, and rooms are available at both the main Groupsite and subgroup levels.

    Groupsite Chat also makes Chat archives available to view, search, or export and provides administrative controls for your Chat rooms.

  • How to Set Your Subscription Preferences

    Groupsite provides the ability to control your subscription preferences related to key areas of communication in your Groupsite: Private Messages and Discussion Forums. The ability to manage your subscriptions allows you to unsubscribe or control how you stay informed via group communication made using these tools.

    The subscription preference options include:

    • Not subscribed (you will not receive email notification or Groupsite notification)
    • On site (you will not receive email notification but will receive notification within your Groupsite)
    • By email (you will receive the full text of messages/replies, sent directly to your inbox as soon as they are posted, as well as ..

    Groupsites feature the ability for members to communicate one-on-one via private messages. Private messages can be sent from within your Groupsite, or created and replied to directly from an email account. Besides your email inbox (provided by your GMail, Yahoo!, etc. or your company's email service provider), you can also view sent and received Private Messages directly from your Groupsite.

    Just log-in to your Groupsite. Then go to My Settings > My Private Messages

    To help members stay informed, as well as to support any member's Groupsite-related email activity, Groupsites have a message notifications feature in all Groupsites. Message notifications alert and inform members of received private messages, updates to subscribed forums and topics, and notification of any problems with emails.

    Notification indicators are visible in the Groupsite's main navigation bar:

  • "Profile Completeness Meter" Feature Enhancement

    The Profile Completeness Meter can now be disabled by Groupsite Managers. This functionality will be available to all Groupsite Managers on our platform.  This functionality can be accessed from the MANAGER > Group Settings > Profile Settings area of all Groupsites.  Be sure to click "Save" if you disable/re-enable this setting.

    As a Groupsite manager, if you remove the Profile Completeness Meter, you will be removing the meter for your entire Groupsite. The Profile Completeness Meter is either "on" or "off" for all members in a Groupsite. The Profile Completeness Meter can be re-enabled at any time.

  • Groupsite Application Customization is now available

    On February 16, 2012, powerful new functionality, Groupsite Application (App) Customization, will be available in our Collaboration Community and Enterprise plans. This new functionality allows managers of these plans to disable specific areas of their Groupsite that aren't relevant to their group's specific needs. Managers can also add custom pages to the main Communicate, Share and Network areas of these Groupsites.

    So what can you customize? For Collaboration Community and Enterprise plan Groupsites, managers will be able to disable existing sub-tabs in the navigation menu - and add new ones:

    Discussion Posts/Reply by Email -  Simply create or reply to discussions right from email.  This functionality is available to Groupsites who have subscribed to the Small Team Plan and above.  

    • Create New Topics - Post new topics via email. Each forum has its own email address, visible from the forum.
    • Reply to Posts  -  Hit "reply" in your email client to post a reply to a discussion.
    • Private Messages - Reply to private messages via email.

    Account Settings

    The Account Settings area allows a Platform Owner to manage their organization's Groupsite Divisions, Roles and Division Settings within the account. The Platform Owner can create and associate Groupsites with divisions for the enterprise (areas of business, function or purpose within the organization). The Platform Owner can also create and assign administrative roles (Manager, Observer) at the Platform or Division level.

    Once your Groupsite is activated on the Groupsite Enterprise Platform, the Enterprise Dashboard becomes available. If you are a Platform Owner or Platform Manager for your organization, the Enterprise Dashboard access bar will appear at the top of the page:

    The access bar appears when you are logged in to Groupsites associated with your Enterprise Platform account. If you are a Platform Manager for a division within an enterprise account, the access bar appears only in those Groupsites associated with your division.
