IE 8 Beta - Cannot Use Drop Down Menus

Yesterday I downloaded IE8 - I thnk it's a beta version. Since then, I am not able to use any of your drop-down menus. For example, the Switch Groupsites or the My Settings, etc. The submenus will not display when the arrow is clicked.
It may not be IE8's fault since I have a tendancy to blame everything on Microsoft products. Please, don't ask me to use another browser. As much as I hate to admit it, Microsoft has one the war on browswers. We just need to accept that and move on!
Whatever anyone can do to assist in this matter would be appreciated.

I'm using IE8 and I can't replicate your problem.
Have you tried using the "Emulate IE7" button? It's located on the toolbar and looks like this:
Bear in mind that a Beta version means that the software is not complete and will change. It makes it very hard to code a website for a program that is constantly changing, so perhaps you should revert to IE7, which is stable and complete.

Nancy,
Since IE 8 has not been release yet, we have not targetted that browser.
Also, just an FYI, Microsoft's browser share has been slipping steadily for a while now, not increasing. Firefox has quite a browser share now, and Safari's is approaching what Firefox had a few years ago. For example, on our website, Microsoft browsers make up roughly 2/3 of our user base. Four years ago, that would've been closer to 9/10.
I don't have the Emulate button anywhere - I checked to the drop-down menus and buttons offered - I don't see it.
Correction - it's the drop-down at the very top - Switch Groupsites that does not respond. The others throughout the site are OK.
I like the new IE8. It does seem to work faster and "smarter." Not to belabor a point, but 2/3 is still a significant market share. I also get a little upset when I spend a lot of time developing a flash component and Firefox does not display it. - Alas, another topic entirely!
If I must, I'll swtich back to IE7 - after a day or two :)
Thanks
Hmm. That's weird. You might need to update your IE8 again then. The Emulate Button is also in the toolbar.
And I'm able to replicate the problem; you'll probably have to switch back to IE7 to get the functionality if you can't find the Emulate button.
Good news:
As of this moment, as a stopgap measure, all pages on CollectiveX will activate the "Emulate IE 7" mode automatically and prevent user configuration from conflicting with this setting and breaking the page.
This should take care of 99% of any problems experienced while using IE 8 on CollectiveX.
