Adding a member who is reported to already be a member

I'm attempting to add a member to a an existing CollectiveX group (acs-rm-boards.collectivex.com). When I hit Submit on the "Invite Members" tab of "Manager" section I get the following message:

----------------------------

No emails sent.
Please provide valid email addresses which are not already members of your group.

Skipped 1 existing group member: *****@****.edu

 ----------------------------

I've concealed above the actual e-mail address that appears.  I've looked under the "Pending Members" and "Manage Members" tabs and I don't find this e-mail address showing.  So I'm not sure why this particular e-mail address is getting flagged.  I've also attempted to add this member along with others in the same list and this is the only e-mail address that gets the above error message.

I have previously invited this same person but given that they are not a current pending or active member they may have declined the invitation or similar.  So I have to presume that there may be some legacy presence of that e-mail address that is simply not showing in any pending or active member list that the add new member functionality is finding.

P.S. I can provide the above e-mail address directly to CollectiveX staff - I just don't want to share with everyone.

Donivan,

The manager area does not show you all emails addresses that your members possess, only the ones that they've shared with the group.  However, invitations will never be sent to an existing member regardless of whether their email is visible in the manager area or not.

If you private message me with the email, I'll look into it.

Donivan,

Any word on this?  If it's not proving to be an issue after all, then I'll just close the bug.

Joe,

I believe we can close this bug report.  Thanks for your effort to correct this odd instance.

CollectiveX is working on the same problem we are having with inviting a new member.  She is getting the same message you listed.  Shaun is working diligently with tech support.

Hey guys,

@Della - I think this issue is being confused with something that it's not: there is not actually bug here and there was never a fix applied.  Also, if memory serves me, I believe the problem with your group was that the member's invitation had actually been clicked on by another user.

@Donivan - We've changed the text of the message to make it clear which member of the group that the email listed actually applies to - members can have more than one email address and managers normally only see the one which is preselected for the group.  That's why this is often reported as a "bug" when it's actually returning an accurate error message.
