[Norton Anti-virus] screen freezes, flash or applett thingy won't move

Every time I send a private message, the screen says the message was sent, but there's no where to go, no buttons, nothing.  I cannot progress unless I hit the 'BACK' button on my Explorer.

Also, when previewing email, (or if there's an error), if there's a substantial amount of text, that's what I see; moving the buttons below my screen.  I scroll, but it scrolls the background, not the active applet.  Thus, I'm forced to hit the back key; I've had to start lengthy emails over again (now I cut and paste my emails to another application as an insurance policy, but this is a pain).

Cheers on the site tho.  I love it.

  1. Can you let us know if your browser is reporting any JavaScript errors when this window is frozen?  If it's staying frozen, it's because the browser has halted JavaScript on the page because it believes to have found an error.  If you're not sure how to find the JavaScript errors, let us know what browser you have and we'll try to help.

  2. Sounds like we need to make these windows able to have "internal" scrollbars when the content is too large.  It may look ugly, but it would definitely solve the problem.

Hi, Joe, and thank you for your response.

While there is no Java error reported, I'm reasonably certain it's a conflict with Norton Anti-virus.  When I disable it, everything works fine:  The page scrolls on a longer email "Preview" and when I sent you a test private message, the image that tells me my message was sent dissappears (never did that before).

Well, at least I know I can write emails by turning off Norton, and now you know that there's a conflict.  I hope this helps.

Can you let me know what version of Norton you're using?  If you don't want to post it here, you can private message me.  I'd like to be able to get a test machine running Norton so that we can test our site's usability against a Norton-protected browser.

Hey Dave,

If you let me know what version of Windows and what version of Norton, we can get a test environment going to get this resolved.  I think it's important, since people like to use Norton and they might not be savvy as you were to identify problems themselves before they get frustrated and give up on the feature or even the whole site.

You can either post it here or email support.
