Calendar Module discrepancy

I added a recurring event to the calendar.  It is on Oct 5th and re-occurs the 1st Monday of every month until May 2010.  On the calendar page, there is nothing for September 7th.  But in the Calendar module embedded on our home page, it shows an event for 9/7, which isn't accurate.  If you click on it, it takes you to the Oct 5th calendar entry.

Seeing a 2nd discrepancy.  My subgroup has a calendar event for 8/31.  On my main group calendar, I see the group-wide events for 8/31 along with the subgroup event for 8/31, since I'm in the subgroup.  But, from the calendar module embedded on our home page, I only see the group-wide events for 8/31.

I know it hasn't been all that many days since I posted this thread, but we're getting ready to kick off our fall activities and I'd like to schedule on the calendar using recurring appointments.  Any ideas about the 2 issues I'm seeing?

I have an calendar event on September 22, with a clone of the event for October 22.  Both events show up on the monthly calendar view, but the September 22 event does not show on the calendar module on the home page.  Is there a problem with cloning in the calendar module?

Hi, Chris. Sorry for any hassle -- in what Groupsite is this happening?  (If it's private, feel free to write to me here.) I wasn't able to duplicate this issue in my test Groupsites. The "Upcoming Events" module correctly reflects the recurring events that appear in my monthly calendar.

Please also include the subroup where you see this happening so we can take a look!

Hi, Ralph.  I wasn't able to duplicate your issue either, related to cloning an event. I created an event for 9/22/09 and then cloned it for 10/22/09. Both appear in the "Upcoming Events" module on my home page.

Can you let me know the Groupsite(s) where you're experiencing otherwise?  Thanks!

I noticed today that I had some events not showing up on the Summary Page on our Upcoming Events module. We have events scheduled for the 7th, 9th, 10th, three events on the 11th, one each on the 12th, 14th and 16th. I had the module set to show 6 events, but instead of showing the first six events, it skipped over the third event from the 11th, and didn't show the ones on the 12th or 14th, either. It did show the one from the 16th. It wasn't until I changed the module to show 9 events that I could get the missing events to show up. What could cause this, and is it possible it's related to the above problems?

Calendar events do not show in date sequence on the calendar module on my "Burton Groupsite" main page. In fact, since Oct 1, September events (historical) are being displayed.

I'm experiencing the same calendar discrepancy as Chris did several months ago - only the events that are posted directly onto the main calendar are appearing in the 'Upcoming Events' module. If I post an event to a subgroup calendar, this event is copied to the main calendar (a great feature!), but does not show up in the upcoming events. So, if I want the next 3 events to be listed in upcoming events, regardless of whether those events pertain to the main group or the subgroup, do I need to list the event on both the main calendar and the subgroup calendar? Is there any way around this?

Hi, guys -

We've recently been working on "recurring event" bugs and here's an update:

  • Chris, your report of trouble with events from the 1st Monday of every month has been fixed - completed under Ticket #1764.

  • Curvie - We're in the final stages of a fix on Ticket #2273 for a bug in recurring events that causing past events to show up in the Upcoming Events module. I expect you'll see this resolved early to mid- next week.

  • Chris and Becky - the upcoming events module now includes subgroup events (#2146). A reminder if you're in Private subgroups:

You'll find that Private subgroup events display in your Upcoming Events module. The display of these events behaves just as it does on the shared calendar: you only see Private subgroup events if you're logged-in and a member of that subgroup.

Note: we also want to make it so Public subgroup activity, including events, display whether or not you're a member of that subgroup. The umbrella request for this work is Ticket #2285.

  • Ralph and Liza - you were reporting events missing from your upcoming events module(s). We haven't been able to duplicate these issues. If the problem continues, please let us know from what area of the site the data is missing (month view, list view, Upcoming Events module, etc.) and include a link for the event that's not showing up.

If your Groupsite is private, please write to us at support and include a link to the page or events where you're seeing the problem.

We'll keep you posted on Ticket #2273 (past events showing up in the Upcoming Events module).

Hi, everyone. The last of these reported issues has now been fixed -- you should find that past, recurring events no longer appear in your Upcoming Events module. Ticket #2273 is now closed.

I'm going to move this discussion to closed bugs, but Ralph and Liza - should you still have trouble with displays in your Upcoming Events module, just let us know.

If you have a private Groupsite, you can report this to support@groupsite.com. Please include a link to the event exhibiting the odd behavior.

Diana

So far, everything looks okay for me. Thanks!

Perfect.  Thanks so much for the attention to address these.  Our calendar is central to our groupsite, so we very much appreciate your efforts to ensure its accuracy.  Thanks, too, for the DETAILED reply to all the issues.

thanks, Diana and team.  I believe things are working fine, now.
