Profile image upload and display is plum screwy....

Hello Joe.

There are no longer guidelines written anywhere (that I could find) describing how to upload photos: required sizes, hints as to how to get the photo to upload properly, information about what the system does with photos of different sizes and qualities etc. As a consequence I have not been able to figure out how to properly upload a photo, and I imagine that my members are equally challenged. Any help would be great.

Also, no matter what I do its seems that the avatar profile image accompanying posts always seems to have a white frame on the right and below. How do I get rid if this?

Best,

Jonathan

Hi John,

The profile photos are a perfect square, the largest size being 120x120.

If you upload one that is too short, it will be cropped, with horizontal centering.
If you upload one that is too long, you can choose the vertical positioning (top, center, bottom) that will occur prior to the crop.

We don't ever add any white frames on them. We just scale or crop them. I can see the photos that you currently have in the system (besides the "No Photo" option that you have in champions) and none of them seem to be exhibiting this problem.

Can you upload one of the photos that was exhibiting this problem for you so that I can try it out?

Hello Joe.

Man they have you on slave labor! Saturdays during holiday weekends? Man!

I am now displaying the cropped one. I can see that your image is cropped too.

I did not know that you could set 2 different images for every community.

None of these are displaying frames. The image itself doesn't have a frame. The HTML puts a 1 pixel wide gray border around every image. And there's a slight amount of margin to the side of the image. But the image itself doesn't have any white border around it.

Hey Joe.
Since we last spoke its been corrected. Not sure what you did

I didn't change any code, so maybe it was a momentary browser issue? Who knows...

Right now I'm hard at work on the statistics stuff, which is looking pretty nice. I think we'll be able to include most of what you were hoping for too. More on that later, though, in a different thread. :)

I am seeing the 3 millimeter right and bottom white border on avitars again. It seemed fine at work today. I dumped my cache and I still see it. Joe's avitar above and all avitars above have it.

......They're here......

What browser are you on?

Firefox 2.0.0.6

That's what I use too. Is there any way that you can post a screenshot of what you're seeing?

Any word on this Joe. I can see that on reload it sizes normally, but than snaps back to the screwy version. (See link above to view)

It's difficult for me to debug because I can't get it to happen on my side. Likely there's a bug in the Windows version of Firefox. The Mac version definitely has it's own set of bugs. Let me try it on Firefox for Windows.
