Email Blasts Arrive without images

I uploaded several images, inserted them into my discussion post and when the email arrived, it arrived without images but just placeholders.  The online discussion forum displays the images properly.

The images contain all the content of my demonstration.  Is there another way to implement so that images do arrive embedded in the email?

Diana,

In order for your images to display outside of your Groupsite, they must be "publicly linkable".  If you are logged in and a member of the group, this will not happen.  If you are viewing the emails from an email client like Thunderbird, or Mac Mail, you won't be logged in from that program so you will see placeholders.

To make it more clear as to what is going on, we just updated the site to display "official" placeholder images with a plain message such as "You must be logged in to view this image" or "You must be a manager to view this image".

I am using Outlook 2003 and the image placeholders will help so they do not look like errors.  It's not an ideal situation.  What's interesting is that my photo shows up in the body of the email which is also an image.  Is my profile image publically accessible in a way that is different than the discussion images?

Is there a better way to post discussion questions that include images like print screens in the body of your discussions so that it appears in emails without external html links and external hosting of images?

I posted to a discussion and did receive the placeholder.  I was expecting it to say "You must be a logged in to see this image" rather than "you must be a manager to see this image".

Can you tell me the rule set as to why you must be a manager?  Is the discussion group listed as managers only and if so, how do I change it to be open so the message is "you must be logged in to see this image"?  I am a manager.  The discussion should not be.

I appreciated your quick patch application.  I just don't want to confuse non managers.

I did confirm the discussion thread is not limited to managers only so the image place holder should have the "you must be logged in to see this image" message

File cabinet permissions are not based on discussions permissions, etc.

To make an image in your file cabinet "publicly linkable", put in a folder which is publicly linkable or make the folder that it is already inside of publicly linkable.

Sounds good.  How do I do that exactly?  I don't see any folder options that imply "publicaly linkable".
