Editing and old post causes funky page

I went to edit an old post to add to it, and when I clicked the edit button it displayed some of the threads in that discussion, plus the discussion tab display, and the thread I wanted to edit was not shown.
Also, a thread I edited the other day by cutting all content out has somehow re-appeared with the content back in it. I had edited an old post, cut the content, and resubmitted with nothing in the post. The content I cut has reincarnated itself

1) I'm not really sure what you're describing here. Are you saying that the Edit Topic button gave you an empty text box instead of the current text of your post?
2) We don't save old versions of posts. Ever. So, any reincarnation of them is quite literally impossible. You probably hit the Preview button without realizing it so your edit was never saved.

I cant describe it any better than I did above. Try this:
1) Create a reply to this post I am writing now (It will be your second post in this discussion).
2) Go back and edit that second post, but instead of typing more text clear all of the content and hit save.
3) Go back and try to edit the post above (your first post in this discussion)
Try that and see what happens.

I can't reproduce what you're describing.
But, let me point out that it is truly impossible to resurrect old posts. The database does not save them. They don't exist anymore, period. I couldn't even do it on purpose, without redesigning the database schema for discussions.
That's why I'm saying that you must've hit Preview. Because there is no way to get the system to do what you are describing without redesigning the database. Either as a bug, or on purpose.
Perhaps your browser is caching the old text in the textbox?
