Clearing invitation entries upon sinup and purge link

A few days ago a well respected professional left my group, and I did not know it was he that had left because it is not currently possible to know who left or to capture why. Today I noticed a user who requested to be with drawn in the "pending members" tab, and it was obviously him. He had joined, yet his email remained in the "pending members" tab and he was receiving double the communications:
+as a member
+as a pending member

Two problems here:

1) I know that this person accepted an invitation earlier and joined. However, his email remained in the "pending members" queue and was probably receiving all kinds of unnecessary email communication. I have seen this before, where an invited member joins and his entry in the "pending members" tab is not removed upon his joining.

2) When clicked on the "purge" link next to his withdrawal request I was sent to some crazy looking non-css ghost page. You guys should look into that.

Number one is the worst problem because when members get spammed they get angry.

Jonathan,

1) The purge link only shows up for members who have _declined_ their invitation. This means that they do not, ever, receive communications as a pending member. I understand your concerns, but I assure you that your assumption is incorrect.

2) Consider the display issues fixed.

Also, the bugs with members being in both lists (by email address) were resolved when we switched the new version of CollectiveX on May 7th. I have yet to see this happen since then. There are many, many checks to protect against this happening. All previous data was cleaned up at that time as well.

If you still think that it's happening, feel free to private message me his email address and I will look into it for you. I'd be very surprised if this was actually happening, however.

Hello Joe.
Regarding the purge link you are absolutely correct. But that is not what I was saying.

What I am saying is that it appears as though pending member emails are sometimes not removed when an invited member joins. Also its seems that the system may permit me to invite the same person again after they have already become a member, using the same email, and they will receive an invitation and subsequent notifications. Neither of these should happen because I should not be able to re-enter the same email for invitations if I have a member already registered with that email. Also, out of curiosity what happens if a person is a member of your group, then I send him and invitation to mine? Does his email remain in my pending members list after he joins?

Thanks Joe

Jonathan,

Believe me, I understand exactly what you were saying. This problem has been completely removed from CollectiveX as of the relaunch on May 7th. A member of a group may not be on the pending members list with the same email address. We have tested this via signup, via re-invite, etc., etc., etc.

However, we cannot/will not stop group managers from: reinviting a member who has already quit or inviting a member at a different email address.

Like I said, if you can find an instance where it's still happening, private message me that email address.

Wish I had read this discussion before I purged one of my invites because she had already joined.

Could it be that I invite someone under email terry@yahoo, but they sign up under terry@hotmail? Would that account for their original invitation still being in the Pending list?

Yes, this is the only way that this can happen.

We have no way of linking two unrelated email accounts together to view them as one member.

Also, this bug will be closed soon, unless someone has an example of it happening with the same email address.
