"Discussion Blasts" broken??

When I make a new post these days, when the site refreshes it give me a line of information at the top of the screen as per: "Discussion Blast sent to 550 members and 0 pending members" or "Discussion Blast sent to 1 member and 0 pending members".

I just made a post that I specifically wanted my pending members to receive, but the info line mentioned above claimed that it wasn't sent to the pending members. ("Discussion Blast sent to 550 members and 0 pending members") despite the fact that I have 100 odd pending members.

So I thought "I must have forgotten to tick that box" and so I replied to my original post and ticked the box that says "email pending members". Then I got the message that says "Discussion Blast sent to 1 member and 0 pending members".

So, according to these info bars, I havent managed to send this message to my pending members at all.

Have I, or not??

If not, then why not?

Thanks

Pete

Reminders can only be sent to pending members once within every 24 hours.  Additionally, pending members can only be reminded up to a maximum of 10 times and no later than 10 weeks after their initial invitation.

Peter,

We have now added the above information to the tooltip for sending to pending members, and also to the message that displayed after sending to pending members.

Hopefully this will help to illuminate how things work going forward.

Thanks Joe

A couple of things - I'm not sure this answers my problem, as this was the first blast of the day that I tried to send to pending members, and I definitely have pending members who have received less than 10 reminders in the last 10 weeks. So in theory the blast should have gone to *someone* (but it reported it went to zero). Am I interpreting right? For your statement 'once within 24 hours' - does this time period and count include the weekly digest email that pending members receive? (and so they receive this on a Sunday or Monday maybe?)

Also, I hadn't been aware of this limitation (10 times, max 10 weeks, once in 24 hours etc). We originally set up our group to replace a listserv that we had been using, and when we did so I was working on the assumption that I would still be able to use the ‘email blast' functionality to contact my pending members (individuals who are active in my ‘real world' group but not prepared to sign up for the CollX site) whenever I needed to.

It seems, from your reply below, that after 10 weeks or 10 ‘reminders' I completely lose the ability to communicate with this group - is that correct? If so, is there any way around this? (perhaps Groupsite managers who have taken your annual upgrade package are allowed to blast as much as they want? (within reason, as I assume you want to avoid spammers using this)).
