Dont use the term "Email Blast"
This article was posted as a shared link and I want to vote my approval (see linked article). The term "Email Blast" has negative connotations. There are a few other more positive choices. What about "Group Message"?
Also, when subgroups are added with the ability to message subgroups of the groupsite, the term Email Blast will be odd.. would it have to be Email Sub-Blast?
Thanks

Good idea. I like the term Group Email (or Subgroup Email), since it is going by email.
I'd even be okay with "broadcast." But Group Message also gets my first vote.
An interesting idea. I can see where some connotations come into play with the word "blast". I can't imagine that we'd be looking forward to remove the word "blast" from our entire site and replacing with other language... but it's within the realm of possibility.
I have to agree with everyone that Group Message is more descriptive than E-mail Blast.
I have plans of sending a Group message about E-books. I have a lot of experience in producing and marketing them. I'd like to share my expertise with fellow members. Look for it coming soon... as a Group Blast.
Hi Mike,
This is the first I am hearing of requesting to change the term "Email Blast". I will socialize this at our next staff meeting and see what kind of feedback it gets.

I, too, hesitate to use it because of the name - please change it.
Group message does make sense, although I have no real objections to Email Blast - that being said, it does require some explanation at times.
Hi Gareth and Marilyn,
I will bring this up at our weekly staff meeting (on Thursday). I will let you know how this was received by our CEO.

Hi Gareth and Marilyn,
"Group Message" was well received by everyone at Groupsite. Our CEO actually said, "let's change this immediately". However, while consulting with our Development Team to make this happen, I was reminded that we are in the middle of implementing a feature enhancement, "Reply to Email/Discussion Blasts" from your Email inbox. Groupsite.com users will be assigned a Groupsite.com Email address. With this implementation, it may make the entire "Email Blast" terminology issue irrelevant. Either way, I believe you will be happy with the end result.
Sincerely,

I've never had an issue with Email Blast... I am concerned that Group Message would not indicate that it goes via email and it goes immediately to everyone.
Hi Chris,
Thanks for your feedback! For some groups, the term "Email Blast" translates to spam. It may all be a mute point depending on how our development team implements Reply to Email/Discussion Blasts via Email. I will keep you posted.

I like the sound of the group having its own email address - that might make establishing conversations in the email stream a little more like how they work in Yahoo groups.
