What is the diff btw "Welcome Text" and "Free Form Text"?

The only difference I see in the module choices "Welcome Text" and "Free Form Text" is that "Free Form Text" asks for a title whereas the other doesn't. Am I missing something?

Another difference is that the welcome text module imposes different default fonts and margins.
