quick question from a beginner; shouting into the wilderness

As the manager, is there some way I can get the equivalent of a "read receipt" on discussion topics etc. so I know if someone's actually read a particular notice? Or, know if someone has clicked on a link or resource that's been added?
I have no conception of whether/how people are reading/using the materials on the groupsite I manage.
I feel like I'm shouting into the wilderness. :-(

We're sorry, "read receipts" are not available within a Groupsite. Additionally, Groupsite does not currently track added links/resources.
For Groupsites with the "Premium Statistics" feature, you will have access to Email and Invitation Statistics that
help you to gain insight into how often group related email is opened,
viewed and clicked.
This information is available at the group-level. This is because Groupsite Stats gives you more of a big picture view. For example, a Groupsite Stats Module currently provides you with "Page View" information to help you understand what sections and content within your Groupsite generate the most traffic. You would be able to see if more traffic flows to your "Discussions" page compared to your "File Cabinet" page.
With Demographics and Member Stats you can track age ranges,
professions, locations, and the "overall" group activity of your members.
Have you tried using Google Analytics? Google Analytics "may" give
you the detail that you are seeking. Adding tracking codes allows
integration with Google Analytics. This link to our Group Blog will
