Sending individual/private messages via Groupsite

Hi

Just wondering, once a personal email has been sent to 1 individual, if there is a way of viewing from the senders end, what has been sent, and to whom? On facebook you can go into messages and see who the message is between and what communication has occurred since, is there a way to view this on Groupsite?

Cheers,
Kelly

Hi Kelly,

That's a great question.  We currently don't have an "inbox" or "message box" built-in to Groupsites today, however, it is something we'd like to add in the future.  In the meantime, we suggest choosing the option of "sending a copy" to yourself to keep a history of the messages you've sent out.

All the best,

Ravi

Kelly,

When you say "personal email" I am assuming that you are referring to our Private Massage feature. When you send a private message to a member of a Groupsite via their profile page, our system sends that person an email containing your private message and uses your email address in the reply-to field so that the recipient can reply directly back to the sender via email if they choose to do so.

The private message feature is intended to enable members your Groupsite to reach out to one another... without the need to share their email address to the entire group. Unlike Facebook, we don't have internal mailboxes for individuals on Groupsite. All Groupsite messages go to your associated external email account.

As a result, we do not have an internal email area for storing copies of previously sent private messages.  Perhaps we should consider adding that feature in the future.

That's a wonderful addition and encourage members to use the Private Messaging feature.

Thank you for the answers! That has certainly given me enough information to continue navigating my way through!

Thanks again!

I think it would be really cool to be able to private message with someone who is clearly on the site at the time, chat-style. It's a bit frustrating to see someone's name on the "Currently On" list but by the time you can click on their profile and send them a PM, and they see it in their email inbox, they've already logged off!

Hope that's something that can be added in the future!

Hi Brenda,

We do plan to add some type of chat feature in the very near future.  We will add your feedback to this enhancement ticket.

FYI, when you see that someone is listed as "on-line now".  That does not necessarily mean that the person is on-line in your Groupsite.  This mean that the user is on-line within the Groupsite.com Platform.  Remember, users can and do belong to multiple Groupsites.

Sincerely,

Celeste, et al:

Can you please confirm that Groupsite private messaging does NOT exist directly on Groupsite?

Paul

Hi Paul,

I am confirming that private messaging does not exist directly on Groupsite after the message has been composed.  After completing your message, hit "SEND" and your private message will go directly to the intended user's email inbox.  There is a option to send a copy of the message to whoever is sending the message.  I recommend that you use this option when sending a private message since there will be no record of the private message in your Groupsite.

Here is a link to information on how to send a private message:

If you need additional assistance, we are happy to help.  Please write to us at support@groupsite.com.

Thanks so much, Celeste!

Celeste,

Is there a place to add this function?  Is there a timeline?

Thank you.

Hi Robyn,

Yes we are still intending to add some sort of chat feature to Groupsite.  Now that we have completed our new pricing, we are hoping to move forward.  When we have more information regarding how long this may take or when this will happen we will post an update in Champions.

Thank you,
