I just sent this blast:

Hi, Everyone!

This message is especially important to Groupsite Managers. We’ve made changes to our premium feature subscriptions and bundles, found under MANAGER>Upgrade Groupsite! Now you can:

Purchase your premium services Monthly or Annually.

Get more discounts – pay annually, save 10%!
Our $499 premium bundle gives you
savings over individual add-on services – and now you can take advantage of our new 10%
discount, too!  It’s available for both our single (a-la-carte) service and bundled annual subscriptions.

Get even more Additional Storage.
This premium feature now includes 5GB of storage instead of three—at no additional charge!  Need more? Add up to 30GB.

Buy Custom Branding monthly.
Our most popular feature, now offered monthly. If your Groupsite was previously subscribed to Custom Branding as an a-la-carte service, this change doesn’t affect you.

And..subscribe to monthly Groupsite Pro bundles—ad-free, as low as $29/mth.

Note: These billing options are not yet available to Groupsite Pro accounts of larger than 300 members, or to Groupsite Pro accounts of any size that signed up prior to October 22, 2009. If you are a Grousite Manager of one of these types of accounts, you will not see the “Upgrade Groupsite” sub-tab in those Groupsites. Please contact your account representative or our Support staff with any questions regarding your Groupsite Pro account.

If you have any questions, we’re here to help. Respond here in Champions, or contact us at support@ groupsite.com.

Sincerely,

The Groupsite.com Team

I think that your new design is not good! you can very hard find your services, and support of the Groupsite.com is very bad. I paid for some services for the iyms.groupsite.com and pages look very bad... for this money it is other services with better performances. If your service could make corrections and if somebody answer to me I will stay your user. If not, I will ask you to back my money...

Hi, again, Miomir.

We're sorry if we have disappointed you. Your Additional Storage and "Add More Pages" paid features really wouldn't be contributing to pages looking badly. You may also want to be sure you're viewing your Groupsite from a supported web browser, as when we view your IYMS Groupsite it appears fine. We did explain that we don't support third-party content or widgets you may place in your Groupsite. However, if you ever add something that breaks your page, we will remove that module and restore your page for you. We also many times can find other solutions to accomplish what you're looking for.

If you find our services don't meet your needs, it's easy to unsubscribe from them -- you can do this from the MANAGER > Upgrade Groupsite area. While we appreciate all of our customers, we do also understand that we may not be the perfect fit for everyone.

Hi, Diana,

1. As I wrote earlier, I am using all three browsers from your list. Now, without extra pages, iyms look OK and I think: why to pay for extra pages and extra space if this option (drop down menu) make me problem?! It was more than 200 US$ yearly...

2. Yes, it is nice suggestion to unsubscribe, but I spend time and money to make this group. Also, I paid once for Appearance and branding... It is my friends, time and money still in this group.

In any case, thank you for your advise to unsubscribe... I just need some time to find solution. I hope that my bad mud you don't understand personally...

Have a nice weekend,

Miomir

No worries, Miomir. I hope some of potential soltuions we offered will work out for you.  Also, when you unsubscribe from premium features, your Groupsite and members all stay active if that helps.  (Your Groupsite just reverts back to our standard, free plan).

Diana

Hi Diana

Unfortunately I reckon your premium features upgrade page within the managers tab has actually got more confusing. The combination of the add-ons, bundles, sliding scale make it all a bit odd. I preferred it when it was a simple list of additional features and then special deal if you took all of them.

Plus the groupsite pro plans seems pricey, given that they are member and storage limited. $10 a month would by 50gb of dropbox storage. Dont get me wrong, I am a big groupsite fan and recommend it to groups I know in Oz, but the pricing is getting confusing and it is a barrier to entry.

I totally agree with Gareth.

Are Groupsites becoming more expensive? I hope not. I don't see the $499 bundle that I am on right now.The Ad Free groupsites are a sour grape for most of the non-profitable groups similar to mine where every dollar is spent from one individual's pocket.

I totally agree with Gareth and Sanjay... Groupsite was fine but now is confusing and expensive... With 500 $ budget and some knowledge it is many opportunity!

Guys - As always, thanks for the feedback. Obviously we missed something important by not making it clearer on our new billing pages that anyone who pays for a Groupsite annually will save 10%. Not just for the Bundle but for all add-ons.

This actually makes Groupsites less expensive then they were previously!

Our Premium Bundle, which could only be purchased annually at $499, is now only $486 when you pay annually. A premium feature previously cost $118 per year and is now only $106.20 per year.

Additionally, until now, our Groupsite Pro offering - which has all features and no ads - could only be purchased annually and started at $600 for up to 150 users. We now allow you to pay monthly - which many clients have requested of us to help with cash flow - and in smaller increments.

Here are some Groupsite statistics that matter:

Most Groupsites do not pay us a thing. We are OK with that because the ones who do pay either by buying add-ons or going with Groupsite Pro wind up subsidizing those who are on for a free ride.

A large % of our Groupsites are less than 50 people which is why we launched our Groupsite Pro Small offering which allows those who can't have ads and those who don't want ads to get exactly what they want for only $386 per year. That's a lot less than the $600 they had to pay previously.

While "information wants to be free", good developers, customer service people and the other efforts it takes to keep a dervice like Groupsites running is not free.

If we went with a complete ad-supported only model - like most of the internet - we would have to have hundreds of thousands more users to even begin to make the math work.

We are not running this ship just by re-selling your eyeballs like Facebook and we are not subsidizing our efforts with $100 million plus of investment money like Ning.

We offer a "freemium" model which allows us to continue to deliver the best self-serve social collaboration platform in the market.

If the cost of getting the best doesn't fit with a group's finances, we understand. We can't help, but we understand.

For any client that has been with us from the start, we continue to honor all grandfathered pricing models.

Thank you again for the feedback and we will work on making the annual pricing options more visible.

All the best,

Shaun
