Automatically adding new members to subgroups

Is there any current way of automatically adding newly signed up members of my groupsite to specific subgroups that I've created? I expect a large volume of members on a client's groupsite and this may be a concern.

Andrew - Currently, the only way to add members to subgroups is to invite them. It may help knowing that in the case of existing Groupsite members, the invitation is not actually "sent" via email. Instead, upon their next log-in, existing members are presented a message that lists their subgroup "invitations" where they may accept or decline.
An advanced request, but the ability to leverage profile information from other platforms (Drupal, DotNetNuke, OpenID, FaceBook, MySpace) to automatically map them into or offer an invite to a user to join a subgroup would be VERY valuable for group sites that require scalability without heavy moderation requirements (a major barrier for many small-medium sized businesses debating about dipping their toes into the Social Network scene). These interfaces obviously have MANY uses beyond this (single sign-on, better profile completion rates and its many side benefits for all, core site extensibility perception of the end user rather obviously being sent to a whole different site, etc), but this use alone could prove of big value.
I agree with Zen. This would be very useful functionality.
Zen,
Yes. We will be adding support for what we call "Express Signup." Express signup will enable new users to join a groupsite without having to first create a Groupsite.com account. Instead, new users will be able to use their existing facebook, yahoo, google or open ID credentials to login. As far as extend this concept to automatically enable users to join sub-groups, we do not yet have any plans for that at this time.

That is excellent news! Any timeline you can divulge? At least ballpark so I know how/when to factor that into my solution recommendations to my customers?
All I can say is that it is in our near-term development pipeline.
This is most excellent news Clarence. Thank you!
Near-term is good.
