Allow members to edit Group accessible calendar item

Hi.  Our group does not have any Premium Features other than SSL.  When a member or manager creates a new calendar item, only the creator of the item or a manager can edit the item, although the item is set as accessible for the whole group.

We would like to make these group-accessible items editable by anyone in the group.  Is this possible?

Thanks.  Justin

Justin - The way the system works is that calendar events can only be edited by Managers or the user who created the event.

Can you give an example of why someone who did not create the event would need to edit it?

If someone spots an error, they can always email the managers and ask for the change to be made.

Hope that helps,

Shaun

Shaun,

Thanks for the reply.  We are trying to move away from email for things related to our group.  That's why we're using CollectiveX.

Sometimes the one who enters the calendar item is not responsible for the activity that is happening (the reason for the item).  In this scenario, the one responsible for the activity may want to correct a detail.  We also have events that everyone in the group is involved in organizing, and all of us might need to change details other than through the comments.

One possible answer is that we use comments on the calendar item.  But that is not an efficient way to address changes to the calendar item's data.  Another possibility is to make everyone in our group an admin, which I'm not keen on doing.

Justin -  I hear you.  One consideration that comes to mind is version control.  How do you keep someone from entering incorrect or false information (bad driving directions)? Wouldn't it be simpler to have the person in charge of the event enter the event in the first place?

If the event is a fluid thing that is prone to many changes, you may want to offer a link in the event description that links to a discussion topic dedicated to issues around the event.  This would provide a more robust dialogue than what is offered with our event comments.

Just a thought.
