I would assume that it is possible to add this code to ones page. However I have yet to try this myself. The object of adding this code to ones page, would be to lcoate an area of the page (before the body of the page) to insert the code.
If your asking about adding this code to the "basic" service.. I'm afraid that this may not be possible.. Because one would need to be able to access the html/css coding areas. With another network I am a member of (will remain nameless) they offer a "text box" that can be placed anywhere on your page to allow for just these types of codes and once added, you can click to close the box and have the code invisible to all users.
From my understand (which I have tried this at other networks and was successful) the "Analytics Code" should or needed to be placed before the body of the page.. Let me locate the support page for this application...
Here is a quote from the Analytics site:
"Finally, once your page is live, select View Source from your browser's menu and look for the code. It should be immediately before the </body> tag of your page, and should look exactly as it was provided to you"
Granted this will not be implemented right away soon after you have correctly placed the code within your page.. Give it a few days. Also, make sure you have the correct code, view your page (View Source) to make sure that the code has been place in the correct location.
Just in case here is the Google Analytics support page.
Emil - We have recently added the ability to put Google Analytics in our Groupsite (as part of our Custom Branding premium feature - which is currently a one-time fee of $79 - soon to become $9 per month like our others a la carte features).
If you paid for Custom Branding (or purchased the Premium Bundle which includes all features), you can find access to this under the MANAGER tab, then select "Appearance and Branding".
At the bottom of that page you will see "Web Master and Search Engine Tools"
Here is what you will see for Search Engine Tools:
And here is what you will see for Webmaster Tools:
I hope that helps,
Shaun
Thank you, Shaun!
I didn't knew about this futures. Grat thing that you have encluded them.!

Has anyone had success adding a Google Analytics tracking code to their Groupsite? When I go through the process at Google Analytics to get the tracking code, it give me this code:
<script type="text/javascript">
var gaJsHost = (("https:" == document.location.protocol) ? "https://ssl." : "http://www.");
document.write(unescape("%3Cscript src='" + gaJsHost + "google-analytics.com/ga.js' type='text/javascript'%3E%3C/script%3E"));
</script>
<script type="text/javascript">
try {
var pageTracker = _gat._getTracker("UA-7464973-1");
pageTracker._trackPageview();
} catch(err) {}</script>
and tells me to "Copy the code block into every webpage you want to track immediately before the
</body>
tag.If your site has dynamic content you can use a common include or a template."
Then it says that if I'm not the person who updates the website, I should email this code to my web master or administrator and have them do it.
Does this mean someone at CX has to do it for me??
Shaun,
A quick question. I have a custom domain name mapped to my Groupsite (www.OracleERP.org). Now, while using Google Analytics which url do I need to use. Custom Domain Name or the Groupsite URL(http://oracleerp.collectivex.com) ?
Brian,
Take a look at Shaun's post above. It describes in detail how to add Google Analytics to your site.
I just added the code to my site so we'll see how it goes!
Bridget
How did you make out Bridget?
Hi Celeste,
Good
In my Google Analytics home page, it says it's properly installed and is waiting to collect data. So hopefully tomorrow I'll have some reports I can see numbers on. Quite simple how you guys just inserted the field to put the UA code - crafty! Did you know that GA recently updated the entire script of the code? It still works wtih the old script, but they have a new one too. You probably do, but figured I would mention it just in case you didn't and wanted to incorporate the new code on your site (not sure of the advantage of the new code).
Thanks,
Bridget
Hi Bridget,
Thanks for the update regarding GA! We do plan to incorporate the new code on our site. It will probably make things run a little faster... that is worth doing.
Thanks!
Celeste
Cool. Thanks!
