Groupsites are designed to help groups make things happen. While each specific group has its own defined goals and objectives, sharing your personal objectives is also important in helping to make things happen. (In a Groupsite, you can do this with your Member Objectives feature).
Member Objectives enable you to share what you are pursuing, personally or professionally, within your group. By sharing your objectives, you empower other members to learn how they may assist you.
You can add your own objective to your profile page by first clicking the MY SETTINGS tab. Then select the My Objectives sub-tab.
This will take you to the "My Objectives" page which shows the objectives you are currently sharing -- and/or allow you to add an objective by clicking the "share an objective" link.
To add a new objective, simply decide on a title. Then type a detailed description of what you're trying to make happen.
The objectives you share appear on your profile page. It's a suggested best practice to move your top current objective to the very top of your page so other members can easily see how they can help you achieve your goal. (To re-arrange the order of your profile page elements, click on an element's title bar and drag it up or down the page).
To view other members' objectives, you can click on their profile pages one by one. Or, you can see a list of all shared objectives by clicking the NETWORK tab and then selecting the "Member Objectives" sub-tab.
Since most active Groupsite members create or join multiple Groupsites around different purposes, it's important to know that you can share completely different personal objectives in each of the Groupsites you join.
Remember, it is important to keep your objectives up to date. And, take the time to look at others' goals to see how you might be able to help.
