Polls are easy and fun ways to gather responses from your group members on various topics. While Groupsites do not currently have their own native tool to generate a poll, there are many sites that provide codes and tutorials for embedding. We suggest using

  • Sign up for PollDaddy Free by clicking the Signup tab at the top of the page or by clicking the Create an Account link below the login fields.
  • Click the Signup button in the PollDaddy Free column (or you may purchase a premier package for additional features).

  • Fill out all required fields and click the Signup button

  • You will now see your Account Home page. Select Create a Poll in the Pollsdropdown menu.

  • Enter your poll question in the field.
  • The Enter Your Answers Here box... You may enter only text for the answer choices, or you may select the media button to add an image, YouTube video, or Seesmic video. To use media, type your text answer in the box and upload your media with the Browse and Upload buttons. The + and - buttons can be used to add or remove answer choices. There are also options to customize your poll, such as Multiple ChoiceRandomize Answers, and Allow Other (allows users to enter their own answer).
  • Select the language for your poll.
  • Select a style for your poll. We recommend selecting one of the pre-made PollDaddy Styles, but there is an option to customize the style of your poll. A tutorial for this tool is provided.
  • Before continuing, take a look at the other options on the right side of the page. You may organize polls in different folders, choose to limit the timespan that your poll is available, allow comments, select how your Poll Results are displayed, and block repeat voters.

  • Click Save and Continue. PollDaddy will generate the HTML code for your poll. There are options on the right side of the page to adjust your code. Choose the "Flash Poll Method" option at the bottom right.

You can then paste this code into a Groupsite's freeform text or embed widget/video modules (embed a widget) and it will look something like this:

One of our clients shared that Survey Monkey does now provide the ability to generate embed code when creating a survey through Survey Monkey. So, you can add your survey directly into your Groupsite using our Embed Video/Widget content module. (Read how to embed a Video or Widget here:

I tested this in my own Groupsites and it works well. More discussion is here:
