Adding a Job Board to a Groupsite

I am looking to create a Groupsite in which members can post, view and search for jobs. (Ideally, jobs could also be categorized by type -- entry-level or internship -- and industry.) Is there a way to create a widget or form to accomplish these goals?

Thank you in advance for your help!

I am looking for the same. Until this is accomplished, I am thinking of doing this:

* Create a Form in MS-WORD and manually request the members to fill it out

* Post the Job Description, by adding a new Freeform Text module in the Page.

But, this would involve more Manual work. An Automated one such as the one described by Heather is really wonderful.

I am looking for a similar solution....except to be used for the posting of business-to-business opportunities. Our site, Accesstosuccess.biz, is primarily for the exchange of business opportunities among small businesses and corporate and government agencies.

I will try Sanjay's solution of creating the MS word document.  Question to Sanjay...where would you suggest I house the form so that members can download it?

I'm a novice here, so would appreciate help and suggestions from anyone!..Thanks..Pat Means

Pat,

Here is the Form that I designed for my purpose. You can modify this to Cater your needs. Please keep in mind that this is designed in MS WORD 2007 and might not be Fully compatible with earlier versions.

To enhance you can even add your Logo to the Header and Footer.

Sanjay,

Received your samples....thank you so much!  Would you mind if I shared it with Heather, who got the conversation going?

Let me know if I can be of assistance to you....Much appreciate you...Pat

Sure. Glad if they can be of any help to you.

I have a few widgets I use for job search off of industry jobsites but I don't have one that allows users to list job postings.

If anyone is interested in the job search widgets, let me know.

Why not create a Discussion Forum with a title like "Job Listings".  Direct your Groupsite members to the forum and instruct job posters to start a new Topic for each job they wish to list.  They can include a link to an existing job board posting, if desired.

And why not use the same technique for other Member Marketplace items to list items wanted or for sale?

Has anyone tried this?  If so can you share how it works?

It can be a little painstaking, but I created a seperate discussion forum for each job category (professional field), then created the links on the summary page and directed members to post/view jobs in the appropriate category:

Your solution- and the way it appears on your summary page is EXACTLY WHAT I NEED....but I don't know how to do it.

Do you have 30 minutes for a phone tutorial?

Tim,

That is exactly what I seek, as well. Would you mind creating a tutorial document? You did such a lovely job on your site!

Thanks!

Heather

Hello Tim,

I'd be interested also!

thanks!

Hope this helps:

1. Create a separate Discussion Forum for each job category. (Ex: A forum called "Human Resources")

2. Once all forums (categories) have been added, you need to create a visible link to these forums. One solution would be to create a table on your summary page, such as the one below and enter the Job Categories into it. (Use the Freeform Text Module)

3. Using the editing tools of the freeform text module, make each job category in the table hyperlink to the matching discussion forum.

4. Lastly, prompt your viewers to click on the categories to post or view a job.

Example:

To Post a Job, Choose a Category Below:

Untitled 3

Job Category 1 Job Category 6
Job Category 2 Job Category 7
Job Category 3 Job Category 8
Job Category 4 Job Category 9
Job Category 5 Job Category 10

Tim....thank you so much for your expertise...and for your generosity in providing the tutorial.  Please let me know how I can be of assistance to you....You are appreciated. Pat Means

Hey guys,

I set up my profile questions correctly, but CollectiveX is not filtering by Q&A......can you help me with this?
