"Hidden" attached files in the file cabinet (was: Cannot Attach a file to the Topic)

Sanjay - I just attached the file below with no problems. We had a problem earlier this week that effected everyone but that has been fixed. Not sure what is happening for you.  Is it possibly to send a screen snap or provide more detail?

I realized that I missed a step. Here is what happening. Once I select a file and upload it's automatically being uploaded to the Group Files Folder in my File Cabinet. Looks like I had to go a step forward and select it once again to display it in my Topic.Here is my question.  How about Non-Members?  As a Manager of the Group, only I have the permissions to upload  files to any of those directories in the File Cabinet.

Please help and point me in the right direction if I am missing anything.

The permissions controls section of the manager area allows you open up the file cabinet to allow group members to upload files into the file cabinet.

Also, if you select a different folder other than Group Files before you upload, you will upload the file into that folder instead.

Does that clear things up?

My Requirement is that I want the attachment to appear and accessible only from the topic and not in any File Folder of File Cabinet.  What do I need to do to accomplish this ?

Uploading capability is currently provided by the file cabinet - there is no provision for "hidden" files.

I'll move this request into the "Feature Requests" forum since it's not dealing with bug anymore but more of a request for an additional feature.  However, I'm not sure that hidden files would be user-friendly enough for all of our users.

Thanks Joe. This will turn out to be a very useful feature for my Group if its implemented. The following are the two reasons:

* I turned off the Permissions to the members for uploading Files.

* But members would still want to attach files to the topics. For eg. when they want to attach a word document relavent to the topic, attach screen shot of the error they were facing etc.

Here is one more question.

* Is there a way that I can allow members to upload files to only a particular directory in the File Cabinet?  This will be a work around for me until the above feature is implemented.
