If I edit the Profile Questionnaire answers...
I'm having people answer a required questionnaire when they sign up on what organization referred them. If I added another choice a few months later (say, another organization starts referring people), does that delete all previous answers? What exactly do I need to know here?
For instance, if the questionnaire lists two choices of 'What organization referred you?' with: Live Green, Green Drinks
then later 'Salon Contra' wants to refer members, so I add them:
Live Green, Green Drinks, Salon Contra
...does this mean all prior answers are deleted (and thus all credit given to the first two organizations), or are they preserved as long as the text is exactly the same? Does it matter how I add the third option of 'Salon Contra', such as:
Live Green, Green Drinks, Salon Contra or...
Salon Contra, Live Green, Green Drinks ?

Hi Neil,
I've also had questions/problems with this but haven't gotten any clear answers so far. I hope one of the support team guys will help clear this up so we'll know what we can & can't do with this great feature! I would also like the flexibility to do MINOR editing, tweaking the words or maybe adding or changing a selection otpion without destroying the previous data I already collected.
This reminds me of managing online surveys where you have to be very careful about making changes, edits and tweaks. Some edits won't "harm" anything, while others are a bit too "radical" and causes you to lose access (or at least easily read) all previously collected responses. I think it's the same with this Profile Questionaire feature.
Maybe the support team can add this to their knowledge database with some examples of what would or wouldn't be "destructive" in terms of edits, tweaks and changes with this feature.
Thanks!

I have done this - the people who sign up with the new profile question get that question and their answer listed on their profile.
People who sign up with a prior question get the prior question and the prior answers listed on their profile.
So short answer is - you can do what you want, it seems, and the changes are only refelected in people who newly answer the question
However, a drawback is that you cant report on these answers. For example, you cant get the answers to custom questions as fields when you download the members details in a spreadsheet. So, until you can actually get the data out easily, the facility to have custom questions is of rather limited use, unfortunately.
I'm still waiting for a reply from CollX as to whether I can indeed download these custom question answers...

Peter - Today you can not download custom profile question data as part of the member data export but we are looking forward to changing that.
