using social media icons on the site

I would like to use the LinkedIn icon to connect our members to our LinkedIn Group and the Facebook icon to connect our members to our Page. Is that possible? If so, how do you do it?

Hi Hudson,

Thank you for your inquiry. Currently you are unable to integrate user profile information from Facebook. However, you can
create modules that will allow you to follow Facebook, twitter and
linked in activity.

in addition, coming very soon, your users will be able to login to their Groupsite using their Social Media Logins for Facebook, Twitter, Linked in, and Google.

If you need additional assistance, please write to support@groupsite.com

Thank you. This helps for now.

Can you give an ETA on when  users will be able to login to their Groupsite using their Social Media Logins for Facebook, Twitter, Linked in, and Google?

Hi Gilly,

The code has been completed for this functionality, but it has not yet been tested.  We hope to launch Social Media Logins for Groupsite in 1Q 2013.

Hi Celeste - Checking in on this thread....any progress on this to date? I just presented at an annual meeting of the funder who backs the Groupsite community I manage and this came up several times.

In addition there was mention in late 2013 about adding a "Like" feature to the site, can you update me/us on the progress there?

What I am hearing from many of our members is that they want (rrr in some cases are demanding these familiar features). Some of that is comfort/preference over function but I hear them. They want this platform to stay current with other SM platforms they engage with.

Any updates would be hugely helpful.

Thank you.

Hi Sasha,

Yes, we do have an update on the ability to login to a Groupsite using your Social Media accounts. The functionality is available, but we have not yet released the functionality globally to the Groupsite Platform. We can enable the functionality for your specific Groupsite(s) at anytime.

When the functionality is enabled in a Groupsite, the Manager(s) will be able to pick which Social Media they want to allow. We
(Groupsite) have implemented the ability to login with Facebook, Google, LinkedIn, and Twitter.
The default is Facebook & Google will be connected to Social groups and
LinkedIn & Google for Professional groups. But in Groupsites with the feature, Groupsite Managers will be able to select any combination of  Facebook, Google, LinkedIn, and Twitter, including the option to select none.

At
this time, we did not  allow managers the option to eliminate the
ability to log in with native Groupsite accounts, but that is something
we may consider down the road.

FYI, if a user logs in to Groupsite A with
Facebook, and is also a member of Groupsite B which does Not allow logins
with Facebook, the user will be required to log in again to access Groupsite
B.

Would you like us to enable logging in to Groupsite with your Social Media accounts in your Groupsite? If so, please write to us at support@Groupsite.com to make the request and provide your Groupsite's URL. We can get you started, as well as provide you with instructions.

Regarding your questions about adding a "Like Feature". We are currently discussing a more complete approach to this type of feature that would incorporate "Gamification" globally into the Groupsite Platform.  It is too early to provide any additional details, but we are actively looking at including this type of functionality into a Groupsite.

Finally, we are currently running a Pilot for the Groupsite File Cabinet Refresh.

When we place a Groupsite in the File Cabinet Refresh Pilot, here is what you can expect to see.

1. There are some small visual changes, but for the most part the file cabinet follows the same design as the old file cabinet.

2. The functionality changes that we implemented include "soft"
deletes so deleted files are recoverable (That's why you now have a
trashcan icon located after your last folder in the file cabinet).

3. We also added drag & drop capability for uploading and moving files.

4. Additionally, we've added file export capability so that you can
export all of the Groupsite files at one time. You will now see an
export option for files in the Groupsite export data area.

5. We are currently investigating the feasibility of maintaining all
previous versions of a file when it is updated. We want to at least keep
this on the Platform's back end, but would also like to make it
available to users if we can make it understandable enough.

If you are interested in participating in the Groupsite File Cabinet Refresh, please write to us at support@groupsite.com and provide us with the URL of a Groupsite that you want to
include in the pilot.  We will then enable the File Cabinet Refresh for you
in that Groupsite.

Once the file cabinet refresh is enabled, if you have any questions
or challenges navigating the updated version of the file cabinet, please
write to support@groupsite.com and include "File Cabinet Pilot" in the subject.

Please let us know if you are interested by writing to support@groupsite.com .

Sincerely,

Hi Celeste -

Curious where things stand on the "Gameification" mentioned below.

Regarding your questions about adding a "Like Feature". We are currently discussing a more complete approach to this type of feature that would incorporate "Gamification" globally into the Groupsite Platform.  It is too early to provide any additional details, but we are actively looking at including this type of functionality into a Groupsite.

While there are many things our network appreciates about the GS platform there is also a lot of push back right now to look for another platform, citing many of promises around updates and advancements have been in the works a long time and folks are beginning to lose patience with the waiting process.

Please advise on any updates pending specifically around "like" functions .

Thank you.

Sasha

Sasha,

Thank you for your inquiry.  Unfortunately, Groupsite.com still does not have "Gamification" functionality.   We are sorry we could not meet this request at this time.
