Some characters don't render properly in e-mail announcing new forum posts
Hi everyone,
I have created a new groupsite (http://cbar.groupsite.com/) for subscribers of a newsletter I publish that goes by the acronym CBAR, and, in testing the "subscribe to forum" feature, I have noticed that some characters do not render properly in the e-mail that is sent to forum subscribers with new posts to the forum.
Specifically, in the subject line of the e-mail, which picks up the title to the message posted to the forum, the apostrophe, quotation marks, single quotation marks, and section symbol render as a couple of strange ASCII characters. I tried to copy them into this post (from an e-mail exhibiting the strange characters), but when I did do, they rendered properly.
In the text of the e-mail sent to forum subscribers (which has the body of the post to the forum), the apostrophe and single quotes render properly, while quotation marks disappear, and the section symbol continues to render as a strange character.
This does not occur in the daily digest; in those, the titles to the forum posts added during the day render properly, including the section symbol. And all these characters render fine in the forum post itself. The problem is limited to the e-mails sent to forum subscribers alerting them to new forum posts.
Now, all the forum posts I have tested have been copied from a Word document. I know there is a "copy from Word" button under "Advanced editor" in "Create new topic," but using that function strips out some features from material copied from Word (background and font colors) that I want to retain. So that's not really an option.
I can avoid almost all of the problems if I manually replace these characters in the forum post with the same character entered from the keyboard. That's extra work that I would prefer to avoid, but it's doable.
However, the one thing that cannot be corrected is the improper rendering of the section symbol (ยง). Even when I enter it manually from the keyboard (Alt + 0167 on the numeric keypad), it renders with the same strange character.
As I'm using the groupsite to distribute discussion of legal topics to attorneys, there are a lot of section symbols, as I'm often citing to various statutes. Now, again, the material remains readable, but the problem is noticeable and makes what I deliver less professional looking.
So I would appreciate any help you could offer, particularly with respect to the section symbol, as I have no work-around for that, but also for the other characters I've mentioned if it's possible.
Thanks so much!

Hi Robin,
We are unable to duplicate the issue with:
The subject line of the e-mail, which picks up the title to the message
posted to the forum, the apostrophe, quotation marks, single quotation
marks, and section symbol render as a couple of strange ASCII
characters.
We receive the characters via email (Gmail) in the subject area as included (see screen shot). It is possible that the changes are occurring as a result of your email client. The section character is unicode and unicode frequently is problematic for just about everyone.
Can you forward us a copy of the email in which the information did not display correctly in the subject area? Please forward the email to support@groupsite.com. We will continue our discussions with you from support@groupsite.com.
Sincerely,

Celeste, thanks so much. I have just forwarded four e-mails.
My best,
