Calendar Export

Thanks for adding a .ICS export functionality.  Very useful.  Two comments:

1. Since both the iCal and Outlook links point to the same file, can you simplify it and make just one link, perhaps 'Download this event'?  This would also include Google Calendar users and others who are capable of viewing .ICS files, but would otherwise think they were being left out.

2. The description currently includes a bunch of HTML garbledygook, <p> tags and the like.  Can you put in some regular expression magic to get rid of anything between angle brackets?

Again, thanks so much for adding; our communities will find this very useful!

Hi Chris,

Thanks for your feedback!

In response to item # 1: It is intended to help people realize that it can be downloaded to outlook.  However, we may change this depending on additional responses we receive.

In response to item #2: The change for stripping out the HTML has been made and will be deployed next week.  You should see the adjustment on Thursday, August 1, 2011.

Thanks for the quick response, and thanks again for adding the feature!

Two more bugs.

1: The event doesn't appear to be reading the end time correctly.  I'm seeing events end at 8 AM on January 1, 1900, even though their end time is set correctly.

2. Time zone appears to be an issue.  Although the event was created by a user with her timezone set to Eastern time, the timezone of the event appears as UTC, instead of UTC-04:00.  Is there a way to fix?

Thanks again,

- Chris

Hi Chris,

Can you tell me in which Groupsite this is happening and the name and date of the event where you noticed the issue? You may want to communicate with us one on one by contacting us via email: support@groupsite.com.

Hi Celeste,

Here is the link to the event in which this is occurring. It also seems to be occurring in all other events on the calendars.

Thanks,

Emerald

Hi Emerald,

I went to the link you provided and do not see a problem.  Can you send me a screen shot of what you see to support@groupsite.com?  Also, can you tell me which browser/version are you using?

Hi Celeste - The issue is that the end date for all exported events is always 1/1/1900 and this occurs when I export the event to my Outlook. I have checked everything on my end and my Outlook doesn't appear to be disfunctional. Can you try exporting an event to your calendar and see what happens?

Thanks,

Emerald

Thanks Emerald.  Development is looking at this.

Celeste

Hi Emerald,

I am happy to report that we were able to resolve the issue with the end date in your Outlook Export under ticket # 17528033.  Please give it a try and let us know if you are still experiencing a problem.

Sincerely,

Celeste Sharper Wooten
