Discussion Reply from iPad

Searched the Champions site and did not see any posts related to using Groupsite.com on an iPad.

My members (and my staff) are unable to reply to Discussion on iPad. The WYSIWYG editor is there but you can't get the keyboard up and the cursor working to start typing.

It works in the Profile section, New Blog Post, Calendar fields but not Editor. So why does it not work in the Editor?

Help?

Hi Robert,

We do not currently support the iPAD for any WYSIWYG editing:(  No decision has yet been made as to whether we plan to support this in the future.  The rest of the site's functionality works normally with an iPAD.  We do normally recommend using the Mobile version of a Groupsite from the iPAD.   Our optimized Mobile site was designed to resolve these challenges.

We hope this information helps, and we apologize for any inconvenience.

Sincerely,

Thanks Celeste. Is there a different URL for the mobile version of the site? When I browse in Safari on iPad I get the same URL for the normal version of the site when normally a website will recognise when I am browsing from iPad and go to a mobile version of the site.

Hi Robert,

I am sending this message to you via our mobile version of Champions.

For Groupsite Members

From the web browser on your mobile device, enter:

http://yourgroup.groupsite.com

(substitute yourgroup with the web address of your Groupsite)

Once there, simply log in using your normal credentials.

Remember to add it to your home screen for easy access in

the future.

You can also view the mobile version of your site from your regular web browser. For example, for Champions, you can access the mobile version of the site by placing "/m" after the group's URL http://champions.groupsite.com/m

I hope this helps.

Sent via Groupsite Mobile.

Hi Robert,

Keep in mind that Groupsite Mobile has to first be enabled on the Groupsite that you are attempting to access.  It is enabled on Champions.

Celeste

I see that if I use the /m it works on iPad, thanks. I will share this with our members across all our Groupsites.

Where is the setting that indicates it has been enabled?

Hi Robert,

There is currently no setting that indicates Mobile has been abled on a particular Groupsite.  However, if you attempt to use the feature on a Groupsite where mobile has not been enabled, you will be notified.  Here are the instructions for subscribing to our Mobile Service:

For Groupsite Managers:

To purchase and enable Groupsite Mobile Web for your entire group to use.

Log in to your Groupsite

Go to the Upgrade Groupsite area of your Manager tab

Choose any Premium or Pro Bundle

Checkout and purchase

For Groupsite Members (Once Mobile has been enabled):

From the web browser on your mobile device, enter:

http://yourgroup.groupsite.com

(substitute yourgroup with the web address of your Groupsite)

Once there, simply log in using your normal credentials.

Remember to add it to your home screen for easy access in

the future.

GIven that the ipad typically loads full sites, I am curious as to why you do not support it? I dont think people are purchasing ipads to replace their mobile phones, they are purchasing them to supplement or replace netbooks/laptops?

Hi Gareth,

I believe the reasoning was very practical and
involves resource allocation.  The WYSIWYG Editor is the only issue with
using the iPad.  The rest of the full non-mobile site works fine with
the iPad.  Since we already have a Mobile option that will fully support
an iPad, we opted to allocate our limited resources to other areas.

If
someone is using an iPad on a Groupsite that has Mobile enabled, from
their web browser they can simply add " /m" behind their Groupsite
name.  For example, in Champions, you can access the mobile version of
this site from your web browser by going to this URL:

http://champions.groupsite.com/m

I hope this helps!

Celeste
