Understanding Permissions

Hi Paul,

Groupsites do not currently have functionality that would provide administrator control over which discussions a new member can view.  If a discussion is posted in your main Groupsite, it is visible to all members within that main group, unless the discussion takes place in a Manager Only Forum.  However, you are able to restrict the view of discussions to a segment of your group via discussions in Private Subgroups.  

1. Is there a document that details how advanced permissions work in Groupsite? 

Go to your Manager tab: click on the Group Settings: then scroll to Permission Controls and click on the "Update Now" link.  Here you will see the Basic and Premium Permissions that are available in your Groupsite.  In a Basic Groupsite, the Premium Permission Controls are grayed out, but you can see what they are.

Can permissions get quite granular with Groupsite? 

We currently have two categories of Permission Controls, 1. Manager; 2. Member.  The Permissions currently work for All Members or All Managers.  The use of Subgroups is the best way to segregate access/permission on a user level.

Which upgraded package choices go with these advanced permissions?

Any paid package includes Premium Permission Controls.  Currently, you can also add this feature to your Groupsite as an add on.
