1. Can I search custom questions(long answer) in the member profile? I added a field for a resume but the search is not returning an answer. Does it take time to show up in a search request?
2. Can I search the contents of files in a file cabinet? Is there a restriction on the types of documents? Does it take time to be included within a search?
3. Can I control who has access to search? Can I control who has access to a file?

Yes, you can search custom questions and their answers from the member profiles page. Are you selecting the appropriate filter? The member profiles that match that filter will display " Showing (a number) out of (the total number). If this is not working for you, please contact us at support@groupsite.com for assistance.
2. Can I search the contents of files in a file cabinet? Is there a restriction on the types of documents? Does it take time to be included within a search?
Unfortunately, we have temporarily removed the ability to search on key words in documents in file cabinet. We are working to get this functionality restored as soon as possible. The ticket number associated with this request is 5534429.

. Search would be available to all users of the Groupsite. Of course a user would not be able to search on information that another user has chosen not to make visible or share with the group. This information would only be available to the Groupsite Manager(s) from the Manager Tab under the Manage Member's sub tab.
B. You can control who has access to a file in many ways:
Through basic permissions, premium permissions, and/or the use of subgroups. Any file that is uploaded to the main Groupsite and is not in a protected Manager Folder (premium permission), can be downloaded by any member of that Groupsite; and if it is a Public Groupsite, your files are publicly linkable by default. You can override this setting with basic permission controls. This is controlled by your permission settings for file cabinet visibility.
Although all members can download files and view photo galleries, you can choose to limit who can upload to these areas to "managers only". This is done via the premium permission controls. Also with premium permission controls, managers may create file folders that are only visible to managers.
Finally, you can control access to files in a file cabinet via subgroups. Files that are uploaded to a private subgroup are only accessible by the members of that private subgroup.
