I have a couple of questions I'd be keen to hear some feedback on, and apologies if these hav been discussed elsewhere on this site!

Firstly, I've been asked about members wanting to post a topic/discussion or reply to, but wanting to remain anonymous. I discussed that if such a function did exist I would imagine the Groupsite Manager is likely to still be able to see who has posted for sensoring/monitoring reasons, however, is it possible to post and with-hold your identity to the remainder of the group.

Secondly, I have had feedback that on occasions when I email blast to the group, members receive the email notification 4 or 5 times, is there something I can do to stop this from happening as it has created confusion apparently.

Thanks in advance for any feedback or suggestions.

Warm Regards

Kelly

Hi Kelly,

1.  A member can decide what information about themselves they want to share with the Group.  This can be done by going to >My Settings > Mr Profile then scrolling down and deciding what to make visible.  Group Managers will always be able to see their full name and Email Address from within the manager's tab.  When posting to a discussion, a person can hide themselves from the Group by 1. Not posting a profile picture 2. Not making their information visible 3. Showing their first name and last initial versus the full name.

2. We had a bug with our mail that was fixed about 2 weeks ago.  If we had to manually restart mail for any reason, duplicates were being sent out.  This issue has been resolved.  Please let us know if this happens again.

Our issue is similar, in that most of the time our members want to show all their profile information, however in certain circumstances they want to post a discussion topic or reply as completely anonymous.

Can you have both?  I'm guessing not . . .

Personally, I like the idea of allowing this. What's involved technically, I don't know. I also like the idea of allowing managers can see the source of the information to prevent abuse...but I wonder then if people would still use it.

Meanwhile, a Group member could privately contact the manager(s) and request they start a topic or post a response on behalf of the member while withholding their name.

Also, for private Groupsites (where invitation has been most selective and there is the least risk of system abuse) one suggestion may be to create an Anonymous Member account, and publish the link and log-in information for that account to your members. Encourage members to log-in post under it if they feel they need anonymity. However, I don't know know how well this would work in real-world practice. As a manager, if you find something inappropriate or urgent to address, there isn't a way to trace it back to an individual.
