I am not generally a fan of browser toolbars (gets pretty cluttered) but given the time I spend in CollectiveX, I would definitely use a toolbar that gave me quick access to key functions:
Specifically
1) ability to add items to calendar (while still on the page where I learned about the event)
2) ability to post to a forum
3) ability to upload a file
4) keep track of the various RSS feeds from the site

Do you know what would be brilliant, is one-button integration. Like Flock 1.0 has for facebook aqnd flikr.
Those are good ideas. We'll look into them.
I guess from the other perspective also - it could give members of my group a "real-time" notification of new events that have been added to the calendar or discussion forums. That would be pretty neat.
