Pending members not showing up? Invitations not instant?

Several folks have stated that they have tried to sign up yet they are not listed in the "pending members" area. Why?
On average, how long does it take for a recipient to receive an invitation? I just sent myself one via another email over an hour ago, and it has not shown up yet?

Hi Miguel,
I am going to start with receiving invitations. You are able to track the initial status from your Groupsite. When you send in invitation, you will see the status change from processing, to in progress, to queued, to pending or bouncing. This typically happens within a few minutes. However, it could take up to 1 hour before the person receives the Email invitation. We currently see 2 pending invites for your Group and 0 Membership Requests.
We will need to get from you for anyone that experienced a problem:
1. Name and Email Address
2. When they attempted to join
3. The result of that attempt ( Did they receive an error message? What was the message).
We will need to receive this kind of user information in a more private setting, so please forward this information to us via Email: support@groupsite.com
I also need to mention that we were having Email issues over the weekend. If invitations were sent during this timeframe, it is possible that they could have failed. When did you send these invitations? If you do not see them in your pending invite tab, you will need to re-invite these folks.
