Custom Short Name

I was wondering what the creation of a short name for a subgroup is supposed to do? I changed mine hoping it would shorten the title in the the drop down bar so it isn't cut off but I don't actually see any changes from using this feature.

Well, the Custom Short Name does not currently perform as noticeably in the new Subgroup UI as it did in the old Subgroup UI. In the old Subgroup user interface, if you selected a custom short name, the subgroup menu and the member profile pages would show the short Subgroup name, while the Subgroup home page, the email blasts sent to the Subgroup and the file cabinet folder would show the long subgroup name. The layout of the old interface made it more apparent.
But with the new Subgroup UI, this is what you will see (it is not very obvious). The little "Display" button on the right under the subgroup navigation bar for calendar, file cabinet, group blog, and photo gallery show the short name. See the attached pictures of a test groupsite.
