Gareth - We have been performing database migrations, which is causing some pain but overall is good for the health of Groupsites. I'm finding it takes maybe 3-4 seconds to load a page in Firefox.
We are constantly working to improve the platform and also take fast load times seriously, so I'm sorry if site performance has been inconsistent lately. If you are having a specific problem, please also let us know at Grousite.com Support.
We recently identified intermittent issues with our DNS provider affecting some Groupsites with domain name mapping. The problem came to a head today (10/3/10) when our top level "groupsite.com" domain was affected. We have since changed DNS providers which should resolve all site access issues. We apologize for the inconvenience that this may have caused over the weekend.
Just FYI - 10/4 and Groupsite pages are taking at least 20 seconds or longer to load (on PC from either Firefox or IE)
However, Google loads in less that 2 seconds, other sites are also loading very quickly.
Hoping you guys are able to find a solution ASAP... use is a bit painful at the moment, for general viewing or when trying to work within a Groupsite.
Same experience here. Was zippy early this a.m. Eastern Time. But right now it is very painful...20-30 seconds per page.
Hi Chris and Creeconnect:
I will respond to you guys offline.

Why offline? I think a lot of us are having the same issues.
Hi Folks,
We apologize for the inconvenience! For the last few weeks, we have been making preparations for our major Platform/Environment move to Engine Yard. We expect this move to be completed by the end of October. This move will greatly improve the site's speed and access. The various data base migrations and preparations for this move while rolling out new features and fixing bugs are extensive and causing the system to run slower. We do our best to make these preparations during the least amount of site traffic, but somethings cannot be helped. And just to make things interesting, things ran even slower because of some aggressive Bots who decided to ping our Public Directory Page.
We could not tell if they were trying to purposely do us harm or were inadvertently causing trouble. We had to assume their intent was not good, so we temporarily denied access to our Directory Page until tomorrow.
We appreciate your patience as we make these changes that will significantly improve the overall health of the Platform.
Sincerely,
Celeste Sharper Wooten
