Automatically send alerts for calender events

Would be nice if upcoming event alerts could be sent to group members automatically. When creating ab event, the user can select the option to have an alert sent out, and how far in advance the alert should be sent.

I agree. Meetup.com sends out automated reminders for upcoming calendar events. It would be a nice feature to add.
We agree. In our next calendar update we will include one or both of the following options:
1) the ability for event creators to automatically have event reminders sent out prior to an event; or
2) we may connect the feature to RSVP. Example: When a member RSVPs to an event, he/she will have a remind me option that they can select so that they can be reminded via email or SMS prior to the event.
We like option #2 better because it is opt-in which cuts down on group members receiving too many emails from the system that they didn't opt-in for. With over 10,000 groups of varying sizes on the CollectiveX platform, we have to be mindful of how email related features effect groups of different sizes and types.

Yeah - i would be more of a fan of option #2 as we have a fairly packed calendar. That being said, I am guessing that a few of our members would probably opt to receive a monthly reminder ("coming up in October!!") to give them the heads-up on what is happening over the next four weeks.
