Let Manager Know when a member leaves the group

Recently, I had a member leave the group (resign his membership), but I don't recall getting an e-mail or another type of notification that the member left.
The individual had RSVP'd for and event, but when the event happened, we were waiting for the individual only to later figure out he had left the group. If I had known he left the group, we would not have waited for the guy.
It would be great to allow managers to have the option of being notified whenever a member leaves the group voluntarily or is booted off due to inactivity.

Yes, this is extremely important. In general CollectiveX seems to be structured such that you don't need to maintain a separate membership database, but if members can disappear with no notification and potentially no record that they were ever there, that's a real problem.
I agree and look forward to a solution.
Has member tracking - especially in the case of a "departing member" - been addressed? It would be good to see which members are leaving a group for many reasons. I would like to see if this is a feature that is upcoming. I would think at least an email notify the manager would be a great help.
I fully agree with all of the above. Would love to see this feature along with stats for individual members.
This would be nice. More importantly, I am finding when a member leaves or is REMOVED, they leave traces. Traces means their discussion posts are left intact and in place, even though the member is gone. I do NOT like this at all. Why should their posts be allowed to remain? When I had my group on MSN, once the member was gone all traces were wiped out, period.
Has this been addressed? I agree with everything above with the exception of the removing all traces, including their discussions. It would be nice to have the option of removing their discussions, etc. when their leave the group. Some of my members start topics that are an important part of our ongoing discussions. Their membership is not imperative to the discussion...in other words, their presence is not required for the discussion to accomplish it's original intent.
Hoping to hear from someone soon...
Thanks everyone for your feedback and suggestions. Providing notification to managers when a member quits is something we'll have eventually, but it's not currently an active project. (Internally, this is enhancement request Ticket #1235). Our thought is to provide an email alert to managers when a member leaves; include the reason the member left (if the "quitting" member shares it); and change of status from "Member" to "Quit Group" in the"Manage Members" area.
Regarding "traces:" In the past some managers have requested the ability to purge any activity from group members or previous group members. While this capability does not yet exist, it may exist in the future.
If this capability is added, it would likely be an option for managers to purge a person's records from a Groupsite. Automatic removal will never be the default, as this disturbs the perceived "history" of your Groupsite and prevents your members from being able to find information that they previously were able to find.
I guess that is related with some groups/associations concern to grant that all information of a member is deleted upon request. In that case it will be useful to delete all or partially (for ex, all pictures and docs but not discussion answers) and leave a "witness" when deleting (something like "this document, link.... has been deleted upon request of .... former member of the group).
In addition to being notified when someone leaves the group, I'd like to be notified when someone joins/accepts their invitation (or at least given the option to be notified--I know some groups have larger numbers of invitations).
