Changing the Required Profile Questions

Is there a way to remove/change the profile questions? One of my potential members will not join because of a specific question, and I was wondering if there is a way to simply remove it, or make it not mandatory.
Thanks,
DeAndrea

I would appreciate knowing when we will have this capability of making some fields optional, while others can be made required. I believe this was originally entered as ticket #1728.
Hi Guys,
There has been no recent movement on this item, but I will ensure that we revisit the item during this week's (Thursday) staff meeting.
Sincerely,
Celeste
Thanks, Celeste! :)
+1 For this feature. I don't know whether to accept a join request for an individual unless I know they qualify based on their address, which I currently can't confirm before accepting and possibly never at all if they don't subsequently enter the information.
Some information, if not captured at signup, is pretty much lost forever with most users.
Hi Jay,
Thank you for your feedback! We do understand that Groupsite Managers need the ability to require profile questions that are important to that particular Group. We are working on making this functionality available to Groupsite Managers.
Sincerely,
Celeste
Celeste, can you confirm this is indeed a priority for Groupsite.com? Can we expect progress anytime soon?
Hi Ralph,
Ticket 1728 is one of many priorities. What I can confirm is that ticket 1728 is NOT listed in the "current" workload which goes out to about the next 6-8 weeks. I cannot provide any additional information at this time as our priorities can/do change to meet the needs of the business.

I would appreciate an update on this issue please. Can you tell us what the timing might be to complete?
I also asked in previous comments if there might be a short term solution since the join process used to actually prompt for a new users city, state, etc. Since the logic was already there before and was removed, could you simply prompt users if they want to enter it when joining? That way your not forcing someone to enter it. Thoughts please. thanks

We also look forward to when we can implement this, but unfortunately don't have a "when." The reason is because this ticket is not actively in production and, at this time, we're unable to predict when we will work on it. We still have a small team of developers that stay on top of all we do -- strategic platform initiatives to keep us positioned as a leader in social collaboration, as well as all enhancement requests and bug fixes.
As far as a quick solution, I don't believe we have a way to implement this in quick way that won't cause more problems than fixes -- but I've asked the development team to please share alternative news here if I'm mistaken.
I'm sorry we don't have the more immediate solution we'd all like to see, but please know your input is valued and important to us. We appreciate the open dialogue here in Champions.
thanks, Diana. We look forward to this implementation. Maybe we'll make progress in year 2.
Celeste,
this issue is becoming pretty critical to several of my groupsites. Would be extremely helpful to have the ability to make some profile questions required.
Hi Ralph,
I understand your concern. Unfortunately, there has not been a lot of movement in this area to allow Groupsite Managers to decide on the front end which fields are required etc.
As a result of not having this functionality, it actually causes us more work, so we are committed to making this happen! For example, we recently changed one of our required fields (gender), to make it an optional field. We did this because our user base is diverse, and we wanted to ensure that our user experience was reflective of an inclusive environment. Along these same lines, we added another option for gender that is non-specific. Making this type of change on the fly cost us valuable developer time. It would have been simpler if GS Managers had the functionality to make decisions based on your individual group.
Unfortunately, for the moment, the best that we can offer is using the "Custom Profile Questions" field and make these questions required. I know that this falls short of your current needs, but that is all that we can do at this time:(
Sincerely,
