Multi-page Thread Posting Issue
I'm regularly receiving complaints regarding long threads. After posting, the user is automatically re-directed to the first page of the thread. This causes unnecessary confusion (e.g. new members re-posting the same comment multiple times, thinking the forum ate it). Also, on most forums, if I don't close the tab immediately after posting, that's because I want to stay on the same page to review my comment one last time and sometimes to reload it to check replies at some later time. A substantial portion of our groupsite users has similar habits, it seems. We don't quite see any rationale for the re-direction, in fact.
Is it possible to change it so that users stay on the same page of a multi-page thread after posting?

Very important point Filip. There are more issues related to several pages for a single thread that I have noted.
I have noticed new users (or even old users inadvertently do this) posting replies at the bottom of first page of a multi-page thread. Users do not click on page 2 or 3 (links) to see whether their concerns are already answered. This results in multiple posts on the same thread leading to confusion for everyone.
Also, people have a tendency NOT TO CLICK on other pages of a thread. If the posts for a thread was on a single page there are more chances of thread being studied.I do understand that this would the thread too long.
My solution ideas for multi-thread posting in the short term are -
I hope this is looked into and an early reply shall be appreciated.

I have also noticed that if I click on a recent post (from recent posts on home page), it takes me to the first page of the multi-page discussion. (this is the same thing that happens when I post my thread and want to review it)
This has its own sound logic. User should go through all the content before posting his comment. However, the open comment box on the bottom of firt page spoils everything. Unless someone i very careful, he feels that he has reached the end of the discsussion and starts replying at the end of page 1 and that spoils the thread with repeats.
I want to know - Why do we need the comment box at the bottom of every page when we really want people to see all the posts before commenting? The comment box should be eliminated from initial pages and should be visible only on the last page. We have several multi page discussion threads and I being the moderator find this issue particularly painful.
Guys - Thanks for bringing this issue to light in such a thoughtful manner. I personally agree completely with both of you. I have begun the conversation with the rest of our team to see how we can make the appropriate changes.
As always, we want to keep things both as simple and engaging as possible.
I welcome any additional thoughts but I think the ones you have shared so far are spot on.
Thanks,
Shaun
So, it's been a while, but is there any chance of actually seeing such changes implemented?
