Is there any intention to open CX up to third party applications? I know that I would be interested in getting a programmer/web designer to create a few custom applications for me to integrate into my group that would probably not be of much interest to other group managers (and hence unlikely to become standard or premium features).

Absolutely! We do plan to publish an API for building CollectiveX apps in the not too distant future. Once available, you will be able to develop your own CollectiveX apps to integrate with your Groupsite. Some apps will be made available as premium features that can be purchased "al la carte" by managers of other Groupsites.
If all goes well, we will have this functionality available before the end of the year.

Sounds cool ! - This could also be a good forum where people like myself could post requests for applications (i.e., specific customized applications to suit their group).

I'd love to get access to the community, to be able to get developed custom apps.. Seeing the launch of OpenSocial, by Google a few days ago, how about having CollectiveX align with OpenSocial as the API approach it uses??

It would make any apps that get developed compatible across all the other OpenSocial accessible platforms.

We are following OpenSocial very closely and will be evaluating it for integration into our forthcoming CollectiveX Platform Developer API. Yesterday, we finalized and released the specs for our Enterprise single sign-on API. Sorry, this one is reserved for CollectiveX Enterprise customers only.
