More visibility on private messages

It seems like once I send a private message, my only record of it is a copy sent to my mailbox if I remember to select the checkbox telling my Groupsite to send me a copy.

I know that Groupsites are more about promoting group interactions over individual-to-individual interactions, and I don't want to change that, but the private messaging seems to be a black box:

• no tracking of messages you've sent


• no moderation / viewability by managers (this would open up so many more possibilities... I could send work orders via private messages and track them, and thus drive more use of my site)


• no ability to use my Groupsite for a back-and-forth private exchange (for instance, in LinkedIn I see someone I know and drop them a line outside of the discussion, and they write back)

I know how much you guys have on your plate (IM and chat, anyone?).  If this makes sense to you, hopefully it can be something to enhance your program.  If I've totally missed the feature and it already exisits, please let me know.
