Drag and drop widgets for formatting discussions, events, and eventually invitations

I frequently use html within discussions or events so that I can make it easier for members to get at the important information referred to in the body. This usually entails any of the following:
1) a link to an external site (text or image)
2) a link to a member
3) an email link (mailto)

What would be great is if for example there were 3 icons to the right of the textarea (text box) where we enter the content of posts. Each would represent any of the three links above. For an email or external site link I would drag the one I want at a point in the textbox where I want it to appear, a box pops up to prompt me for what to enter, and the html is created on completion. For a link to a member the same scenario would occur but the popup would be an ajax supported list of members in alphabetical order that would be selected.

Jonathan,

We will soon be adding a WYSIWYG Editor for all text entry forms. The editor wil have what are your describing above. It shouldn't be too much longer before the editor is available. Custom domain name mapping and control your group's advertising are ahead of it in our que.

Clarence

I will be a big fan of WYSIWYG editing. my members are not familiar with using basic html to provide links etc. Controlling the group's advertising does sound very exciting though!!
