Difficulty in JOINING the groupsites due to technical issues.
I have noticed two reasons why people have failed to join our groupsite when they tried to. Both are technical issues rather than mistakes by people.
- When people enter their email address, they need to enter it twice (second time against a field titled "confirm address") I have noticed some people type their postal address in the second field as it says "confirm address" and does not say "confirm email adress". This leads to an error popping up which says "email does not match confirmation" which is also confusing. The message should be "the email address that you entered second time does not match with the one entered earlier"
- In another field when people enter their "POSTAL CODE" and then select the country outside US or Canada (say India), a blank field "City" appears above Postal Code. If a person is not careful about filling into a blank created above the area he has already completed, he misses the city and gets an error message later.
Even if one figures out the error which is one of the two above, and corrects it, his password entries at the top disappear when the screen refreshes. This leads to frustration and peole decide to decline the invitation.
In one case, one person got back with the following message.
"I TRIED SEVERAL TIMES AND I AM FRUSTRATED WITH THE EFFORT. I THINK I AM BETTER OFF WITHOUT YOUR GROUP MEMBERSHIP. PLEASE STOP INVITING ME BY EMAILS."
One reason why we are noticing these errors more than anyone else is probably because we have got 3000 members in 3 months. (averaging 33 every day)
Disturbed by this problem, I have added a small write up to help people on our groupsite www.benchmark.collectivex.com on the main page (as article number two right at the top)
I request Collectivex Team to address these issues ASAP.

Good points, thanks for posting!
I'm sure CollectiveX can easily edit/tweak the registration process as you have suggested. It really should be a "no brainer" for people to quickly and painlessly join who are sincereley interested in doing so.

Vishwadeep - Thanks for providing this feedback. We agree, we should keep users' account creation simple and frustration-free. We've opened supportTticket #1431 to look into making your suggested improvements.
