RSS Feeds

1. Is there a way to only show one RSS Feed in the summary page example without having five? It buries the 'Recent Activity' updates which are more relevant to the group.

2. Even better, is there a way to put them under Recent Activity?

3. Even better than that, is there a way to put RSS Feeds into the Headlines and Links section instead of on the summary page?

4. What's the easiest way to get to a manual to explain how the existing RSS Feed feature works in the Headlines and Links forum.

Neil,

1 & 2. In the coming weeks we plan to enable custom configuraton of the group summary page. You'll be able to drag and drop to re-order many of the elements on your group's summary page including recent activity and headlines & links.

3 & 4. Discussions created from RSS Feeds and Links automatically appear in the headlines and links discussion forum area. Example: Click on a headline or link from your group's summary page and above the article you'll notice "discuss this" as an option. When clicking "discuss this" it will automatically place the resulting discussion within the headlines and links forum.

I hope my above responses answer your questions.

How can you create a new forum which only consists of RSS Feeds?

For the sake of clarity I think it would be nice if you could create a new discussion forum that contains nothing but RSS Feeds that you customize/specify instead of it all going into the Summary page. This would let users categorize their RSS feeds instead of having everything mixed together in the Summary page.

That's a really interesting idea that might work well.

We do, also, have other plans for RSS feeds and for the summary page to help things be more customizable and less crowded.

More on this soon, I promise. Right now, we're trying to get the statistics feature released ASAP.

I remember doing this before using Simple Machines Forums and tinyPortal. I was able to inject RSS feeds into posts which worked quite well. Basically the feed headline would become the post topic and the actual feed would go into the body of a message. I think alot of discussion/forum software packages offer this in some form, if not there are usually third party add-on scripts that would do it. I realize you're using your own custom forum software. It would be really nice to see this as a feature at some point.
