Inserting Images into Discussion Forum Posts
I create posts in Excel to demonstrate Excel features, functions or requirements and I will sometimes want an image or object included in my discussion post such as an arrow or a call out box.
I have been saving my file as html to preserve the excel formatting and then posting in the html source tab of the discussion posting box. How do I insert an image into the discussion question without using an html image/reference link external to the post itself. More like an RTF posting or Word posting where an image is inside the document?
Is there any help source for CollectiveX discussion postings? I'd like more explanations on what the icons do and how they work before I do it publically.
For example, I see Create/Edit image icon but it appears to attach a file or upload it to a group area rather than showing me how to paste it into a discussion forum or attach it directly to the post.
Basic Editor, Advanced Editor, HTML Source and Textile? I see an FAQ section, the search box has an error on the site and I don't see a help link.

Here is a post on inserting an image: http://champions.collectivex.com/post/how-to-embed-a-picture-into-a-module
If the image already exists on the web, you can just paste it, if it is coming off of your desktop it must first be uploaded into the Groupsite.
You also may want to create another free Groupsite to use as a sandbox to experiment in if you are afraid of making mistakes in a live site.
Hope that helps.

If I understand the process correctly
I was able to create a posting and inserted two images in the right place. When the email arrived, it was without the images. There were placeholders for the images.
When I look at it online, the images are fine and I can see in the HTML behind the email there is a link to the online images that lead you to the right file.

Any suggestions or ideas? Any help is appreciated.
Thank you

It may be possible that the images size limit within your email service, has exceeded the max limit.
Also, Is your email set to rich text format?.. or html accessible?.
I just discovered that images are "blank" if you are first creating the discussion topic, click <insert graphic> icon, and then upload the graphic PRIOR to inserting it into your discussion topic "basic editor". The images created this way are "blank" when I visit the files area directly and open them.
However, if I upload the jpeg images directly to the files area, I can then open them and they are not "blank". Don't know yet whether this solves the problem of the "blank" images within the discussion topic blast or not. Will let you know.
Setting the folders to publically accessible cleared the problem and emails that arrive now have the images displayed.
if, however, I need to keep folders accessible to members only, and not publically assessible, what options do I have that will enable me to imbed images that will be visible in an email blast or discussion blast?
The emails with image links to public folders allow them to be displayed in emails (i.e. emails are public even if sent to "private" members and can be forwarded.
The implication is that private images (folders set to be private) are private and not forwarded/embedded in emails to keep them private.
Our site is set to show the summary page but there is no access to the file cabinet so I am unconcerned that some of the file cabinet folders are set to public so my images will display in emails.
