Erase all invitations

A small feature that is missing:
in the Manager section > Pending Members >...
You cannot clear the invitations that you've sent by CollectiveX as a whole. You need to withdraw each invitation individually, and that's very time consuming. Why not implement a button: withdraw all ?

I like this too.
This relate to information in this post: filter members by criteria, select, saves selected , and take action.
Yes Filip... great point! It would also be nice to re-invite people based on a date range that they were initially invited.
I like the way it sounds on the surface, but what if someone is actually tries to sign up after you've cleared out their invitation? It would make it look like their invitation got lost.
Maybe I need to better understand what the purpose of this feature would be. Is it because you actually want to revoke all outstanding invitations for the group? Or are you looking for a way better organize your invitations? Or, if you just want a faster way to clear out invitations, would it better if the system removed them a little faster? What I'm wondering is if actually removing the member's ability to join your group is what's desired, or is it just a better organization of the invitations list to ease your management of it?
Anyhow, I'll talk with Clarence about this later this morning.
Hi Joe,
The actual reason for this 'erase all invitations' function is to facilitate the administration management (a better organization). After some weeks, I have sent out about 100 invitations to e-mail addresses from which we aren't sure they still existed. After one month a lot of invitations were still open: to have a more clear view on the invitations, it would be good to remove the oldest invitations.
Kind regards
Filip
Okay, that makes sense. It looks like Sulaiman is interested in the same thing too.
So, do you actually want to revoke those old invitations, so that they will no longer be able to get into the group? Or would the ability to filter the list by date be more appropriate?
Anyhow, I think the ability to erase invitations by date is a good idea regardless.
It may also make sense for me to make that list sortable as well, by various columns, for similar reasons, and to allow filtering by date too.
Yes Joe, I think the ability to be able to sort the list by date will serve the purpose. I literally have 1000's of people from my database in the invitation que. The purpose of removing emails would not be to revoke their invite, but to more effectively re-invite people. I like the "re-invite all" feature, but would like to re-invite those that meet a certain date criteria (I wouldn't want to re-invite the person that I invited yesterday.) Secondly, it would be great to have a check box or something on the invitation page allowing you to select whether or not you'd like the system to send the inviation to people that are already in your invitation que, and be able to manage that by date as well. [For instance the logic would be "YES" send invites to people that I've sent an invite to before, but only those people that I've invited before "DATE."]
I hope that is clear. Filip may have different and/or additional reasons for the feature, but those are the ones that come to mind for me.
Thanks!
I guess, for me, one of the challenges I experienced was having a list of about 700 people invited to a group, and only 70 or 80 or so people responded... After a while, you figure most people aren't going to respond, and join, and you want to just clear the list...
I guess being able to clear invitations out, on a month by month, or even week by week basis would be a great admin feature - and if I can choose to set up the length of time that an invite is kept pending open, by weeks or months, and then have have the system both display and purge people on a weekly or monthly basis would be ideal...
But also, on the flip side, it would be great to actually be able to add "passive" members... People that you want to be able to communicate with by email blasts, but that if they join the online community or not, you can still reach them and keep them included in the community... Then you wouldn't necessarily want those "passive" members to be sent updates from the community, but you as a group manager would still be able to send a message out to everyone in the community...
Heaven knows lurkers make up such an interesting proportion of online communities... It would be a shame to lose them completely!
@Farhan - You can actually already add "passive" members simply by sending them an invitation. And, if you don't want them to receive the updates from the community, you can turn off the Recent Activity Notifications for all "passive" members. In CollectiveX, they are called "Pending Members"
@Sulaiman, @Filip, @Jonathan - I just added the ability to bulk withdraw invitations by date range and/or by the person who invited them. Also, you can now sort the pending members and membership requests lists by various fields.
Hopefully, this will help everyone.
Hey guys, with the latest release of our profile enhancements, including endorsements, you can now see who invited somebody in their profile, because it shows up as an endorsement.
Shortly, we'll be adding this feature to the manager area as well.
