Forking a topic
Here is a perfect example. There already exists a topic about moving replies to a different topic. But that topic was completely hijacked to recommendations about moving topics between forums. Had I posted there, this message would have been buried and lost.
When the thread went off-topic, the manager should have had a means to create a new topic with the divergent post. I'd like to see a new feature called something like "Fork the topic" (pun intended). Aimed at a particular post, it causes it to be removed from the thread and starts a new topc, which must be named. Also, the manager should be able to reassign it to a different forum.
In the groupsites I manage, I have the recurring problem that inexperienced users will start a new topic as a response to my top level "Welcome" post.
