In my group, we advertise events on the calendar that our specific to our group as well as related events (from other organizations).
It would be great to be able to "highlight" or distinguish our events from the others we advertise.
It would also be great to specify reminders for some events - e.g., email gets sent out "Discussion group is coming up in 1 week"

Sure. We plan to add reminders to event invitations in the future.
So you would like to highlight an evet as an official group event so that it can be distingished from non-official events? How would propose making sunch a distinction? Using colors?
Yeah - a coloured/ highlighted effect might be good or a very small icon. It could also be distinguished in the event reminder 'Official "Company" event'.
