EXPAND YOUR STORAGE CAPACITY BY....A LOT
Hi everyone in the CollectiveX Family!
EXPAND YOUR STORAGE CAPACITY BY....... A LOT!
I want to
introduce a new tool to you that can take your group site and catapult
it to the next level. In the digital world where storage is doubling
faster and faster. Why not leverage the power of multiple storage boxes
and grow your storage capacity exponentially.
I want to introduce all of you to a great new website called Drop.io! Http://drop.io
Drop.io
is a web service that allows users to anonymously upload and share
files in configurable Internet storage bins that are called "drops."
Now Drop.io's tag line is SIMPLE PRIVATE SHARING. I believe that drop.io
is the simplest way to share files on the web. No email registration,
no confirmation emails just simply: Name your "drop." (use auto
generated or customize it) Upload Media into your drop. Select a few
quick setting. (if you wish to keep it private or not, if you would
like others to edit it or add to the drop, and how long do you wan the
drop to be live) Then, click upload!
You will be given a unique url that you can have people link
directly to or embed or post the link right in your CollectiveX page or
Blog. At the drop, viewers can download the media, view the media,
listen to the media or save the media.
Every "drop" comes with 100Mb free storage!
Some other cool features:
You can email documents to your drop!
You
can record audio to the drop with a unique voicemail number (imagine a
weekly welcome to your group that they can download or listen to)
You can have a free conference call line for everyone in your group to call into while viewing the documents
You can have new "drops" sent to your site through RSS or Multiple sites through RSS
You can have cool widgets to help others up load media to their "drop" from any website!
Drop.io in action!
I manage one public site and quite a few
private groups on the CollectiveX network. In the private groups,
participation is constant, relevant and current and lots of big files,
photo's and pdf's are shared. With one group my 25Mb of space was used
up in the first seven days.
Now, everyone who enters a group is told about Drop.io and how to
use it! With a group of 30 say everyone in the group having at least
one "drop zone." Our storage capacity just grew form 25MB to 3 Gigs of
space. The nice thing is if that isn't enough we can add new drop zones
as we go.
There are some limitations, like having people leave your group
site or the files not being able to be searched by the CollectiveX
search tool or the file expires after 1 year from the last view but it
is nothing that we can't get over.
I created a "drop" to show everyone how easy it is to use!

Happy CollectiveX'ing!
