Champions - I am writing a piece on the use of the new Group Blog feature for our next newsletter and wondered if any of you have had any success yet using your Group Blog as a way to gain public exposure outside of your Groupsite resulting in increased group membership?
Thanks in advance for sharing your stories.
Shaun

Hi Shaun, I just started my group blog on Oct 31st. I was wondering HOW to get this exposure outside of the grousite. Are Non-members able to view the whole blog post or just what is published on the summary page? Can this blog post be fed into another blog like ....blogspot.com?
I am just entering the whole social netoworking/blog scene and have quite a learing curver. I have to say that CollectiveX has been so simple and intuitive and that I appreciate it VERY much!

Elizabeth - By default, your Group Blog's visibility follows the visibility of your Groupsite (if your Group is private or limited, so is your Blog).
However, you can choose to make your Blog public (even in private Groupsites) by taking the following steps:
1. Log-in to your Groupsite
2. Select the MANAGER TAB
3. Select "Permission Controls"
4. The 2nd section down is "Group Blog Permissions". For "Blog Visibility" select "Public - viewable by anyone
If you Group Blog is listed as being publicly visible, you can then use the RSS feed (get link by clicking on RSS in the address bar of your browser) to feed the blog anywhere you wish.
I hope that helps,
Shaun
Hi Shawn, I love your answer! It is so clear and it is nice to hear "yes this is possible" in a such simple - non-techie language. Thank you. I am a big fan of CollectiveX and am spreading the word. Elizabeth
Hiya,
I have our group blog set to public but am trying to claim it on technorati (to get more exposure)- however technorati cannot seem to find it. Has anyone else had this problem? Have any idea how I can fix it?
thanks
Mariam
I would like to share https://www.mybizpack.com/Getpaid with as many people as possible. I have my group eBusiness Solution. How do I build membership with people willing to share information?
If I use blog, people still need to find my blog. Does anyone have a proven and effective method of advertising their group?
Hi all,
Shaun - any progress fixing the technorati problem? I think this would really help our exposure.
To Chris - Another idea is to set up a facebook page and use the blog rss feed to display your blog posts. This also works on your LinkedIn Profile.
For example: http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/pages/everywoman/43366559735
Mariam. Thanks for sharing using Facebook and LinkedIn as "outposts" to link to your Groupsite! Also, I checked with Shaun - we don't have an answer at this time but are looking into why this is the case with Technorati.
@Chris - As Mariam suggested, we have seen other groups use social media tools to drive traffic back to their Groupsite (Check out this blog post: http://champions.collectivex.com/post/groupsite-success-story-yapstar-professional-association.)
Groupsites do also have Webmaster tools (available as part of our Premium Branding feature). These tools help you to add tracking codes to allow integration with Google Analytics, control how your Groupsite is indexed by search engines, add verification codes for popular search engines, etc.
You can find them in the "Webmaster & Search Engine Tools" area located under MANAGER > Group Settings > Appearance & Branding > Webmaster & Search Engine Tools. Note: Accessing our Webmaster & Search Engine Tools does require upgrading to our Premium Branding option. (from MANAGER > Upgrade Groupsite)
And, here's a link to some alternative suggestions for promoting your group:

Hope these help!
Dear Shaun,
Public Blog for a private forum is a terrific feature. HATS OFF TO YOUR TEAM FOR PUTTING SO MUCH TOGETHER! I have been searching for a powerful forum platform for years and now that we found collectivex, we have got 1100 members in 5 weeks. We expect to cross 3000 in next 6 months.
Collective Imagination drives possibilities here.
Most appropriate name Collectivex - not just because these are group sites but also because the design inputs are collective.
Best Wishes,
Vishwadeep Khatri
I set my Groupsite up about a month ago. Was very excited until I realized there are a great deal of costs for add ons.
Today out of the blue someone did join up. Not as a result of the blog as I have not yet began to promote it or the site as a whole to the members on my forum, store customers, or the various social networks that I have recently embarked upon.
I had talked with the members of my forum about possibly having a blog environment ourtside of the forum. Many of the members are not comfortable with creating websites, and blogs. So thought this might be a good little add on to my online activities.
Still looking it all over, but hesitate to really get it going due to the costs of some of the add ons.
Sure like everything about it.... Thats for sure!
Since I'm new here, I'll try the Group Blog and see if it can give success to our groupsite.
